Trolls picking fights...

From asking why should f***ing god bless f***ing america to calling the queen a wrinkly old prune...

...there really isn't any noticable purpose to this thread other than to get someone to fight back. Nitpicking words and calling names are things for junior high kids to have fun with in their meaningless social struggles, and while Dhomme may very well be in junior high, that doesn't excuse his ridiculously pointless and trolling thread in this environment.

Hmmm.... I saw the thread, earlier, but didn't think anything of it.

I've locked it until I can confer with another Moderator.

*shrug* I didn't think it is offensive. Is the queen not a wrinkly old prune?

Don't get me wrong...I'm not offended in the least by curse words or name calling, it's simply trolling in the way Dhomme did it.

I'm terribly sorry to disagree. This player has a high regard for The Queen.

Cogitation, why did you post your own personal opinion about the Queen as a moderator and not as a player ?

I have great respect for Her Majesty as well, but I don't think Cog was using his modly powers to rule on the queen's pruneness or lack thereof. I think he was just pointing out that it could possibly be trolling to disparage her in a way designed to ellicit an inflammatory response. He's just trying to do his job.

The Queen of England is demonstrably old, demonstrably wrinkled, and (using an easily located Wikipedia definition (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prune_(disambiguation)), "A slang term for an elderly person, from the resemblance of the wrinkled skin to that of a dried plum."), demonstrably a prune.

If this bothers you, then this site is probably not for you. That's demanding a great deal more political correctness from a moderator than is commonly acceptable.

The question was "Is the queen not a wrinkly old prune?", to which Cogitation replied in the affirmative.

That is just contributing to more potential trolling. Isn't it ? Why should he express an opinion about The Queen at all whilst on Moderator duties ?

Why should he express an opinion about The Queen at all whilst on Moderator duties ?

Because moderators are players, too.

Cogitation, why did you post your own personal opinion about the Queen as a moderator and not as a player ?Carelessness.

"Infinite Vengeance" does have a point; I should not be officially endorsing a debatable political opinion while speaking officially as Moderator. Mea Culpa, I apologize. I'm not usually this careless, but I was, at the time, frustrated with having to restart my office PC several times in order to backup some very important work data to CD. My real-life circumstances do not excuse my behavior, of course, but I do hope to demonstrate that this isn't behavior I'm normally prone to.

My proper official response should have been "Regardless of whether she is a wrinkly old prune or not, to point it out just to start a fight is construable as trolling. Truthful flamebait is still flamebait."

The fact of the matter is: I'm apathetically neutral on the subject of royalty; I merely become slightly jaded, sometimes, to the presence of trolls, so it's kinda hard for me to take trolls seriously when I'm in a jaded-state-of-mind. Actually, being jaded is probably a better explanation for my behavior in that thread: I just didn't take it seriously enough to realize "Hey, this guy's trying to deliberately offend people. I should probably lay the Unholy Mod Smackdown on him, or something." That didn't cross my mind until Steel Buttefly pointed it out.

Anyway, I'm too tired to deal with forum trolling, so I'm passing this off to another Moderator.

What cogitation said sounds completely reasonable to me.
The thread wasn't about the physical appearance, age, or really anything else about the queen. To bring her up in that manner, truth or not, was (to my mind) intended as an insult, and designed to get a response. Trolling.

The original post also looks like trolling, but I could picture myself bringing up exactly that topic to see what thoughtful responses people give.

anyway, just lending my support...I don't see any sort of questionable moderator behavior here, and I think the queen issue is a tangent from the original post.
