Am I the only one here that doesn't understand the question?

How exactly do you plan on using the forums? I'm confused.

I've always wondered what D&D is...

I've always wondered what D&D is...

Its a game that was wildly popular in the 70s but has largely been displaced by online multiplayer games and collectible card games. You sit around a table, prefferably with a few boxes of pizza and some 2 liter bottles of soft drinks, and you use your imagination, some dice, pencils and paper to create an interactive story. Each person creates a character with certain abilities, strengths, and weaknesses, and they play the role of that character in the story (using dice and the stats of their character to resolve whether certain actions are successful). One person, the DM (Dungeon Master) is in charge of creating the world that the other characters will inhabit as well as all of the creatures and people not controlled by another player. It is the DM's job to guide the story along and keep it fun for everyone. The D&D name has been licensed extensively, so D&D can today reffer to a variety of things that use D&D rules or D&D world settings (Baldur's Gate series games, Dungeons & Dragons the movie, etc).

If youve ever watched the movie ET, youve seen people playing D&D, its the game the older boys are playing at the beginning of the movie. Elliot wants to join their game but they wont let him.

WOTC is the anti-Christ! :p

I'm the UN Delegate of Wizards of the Coast. :p

Dungeons & Dragons the movie

That was a horrible one.

But yeah, Wei Yan, how are you planning to use the forums? Just steal some ideas from the RP, or play the D&D game there? I don't think the first would matter, if it's just a private game.

I plan on taking a couple of the story lines put in the forums and make a d&d game Based off of them.

This sounds like a question of what is or is not allowed on the forums. Hence, iMove http://assets.jolt.co.uk/forums/images/icons/icon2.gif "Moderation".

Wei Yan: You'll have to be more specific in your intentions before we can help you. What, precisely, did you have in mind?

You probably should ask the mods, not the regular forum people like us on General.

BTW: Nice name. Three Kingdoms forever.

I plan on taking a couple of the story lines put in the forums and make a d&d game Based off of them.I'm not usually a grammar nazi, but there is a significant ambiguity in your statement.

1) If you meant to say: "I plan to take a couple of these storylines (which were posted by other NationStates players) from the NationStates forum and use the storylines as the basis of D&D games outside of NationStates."

Then my response is: You need to request the permission of the NationStates players who participated in the storylines/roleplays. It is their creative work, so you need their permission before you can use it.

2) If you meant to say: "There are some storylines outside of NationStates that I would like to use as the basis of D&D games. I would like to conduct these D&D games on the NationStates forums."

Then my response is: Then you need to contact whoever authored the storylines and request their permission before you can use their material on NationStates. If you have their permission, then the normal NationStates forum rules governing roleplay apply.
