I Still Like Oranges

Me and my brothers nations got deleted, and we don't know y? Mine was I Like Oranges, his was Had to do this. Firstly can anyone tell me why they all got deleted? Secondly is there anyway to get them restored (well mine anyway)?
Please, I'm begging for help, i loved my nation and with it gone i'm furious.

Signed,

You were both UN nations on the same computer. Only one UN nation is allowed per computer. I'm sorry this upsets you, but the deletions stand.

You are more than welcome to have another nation join the UN. But even if there are actually two different people running two separate UN nations, the moment they log on to the same computer, they're multiing. The mods can't tell who's on the other end of the monitor. Only one of you can be in the UN if you operate from the same IP Address.

And before you ask, yes, you can be deleted for multiing by logging on at school or work. The mods generally don't, because they can tell the difference between educational, commercial, and private IP's, but if you're logging in to ONLY that computer (at school/work), then you could stand out. Whenever I log in at school, I avoid staying on very long, and never move my nation, endorse anyone, or vote on resolutions. Don't know if it factors in any (Kat: Does it?), but just in case, I do it anyway.

That wouldn't account for why he was deleted though. Unless he was runing a multi-ring or has done this before. Otherwise the course of action is simply to have the nations tossed from the UN and not the nations deleted.

So when you say "both" that doesn't account for the deletion unless it wasn't his first time. "both" implies two, which it not considered a multi-ring.

I know it wasn't you who did the deletions as you're only a forum mod and not a game mod, but there had to be more to why the two nations being deleted than a first time offence of having two nations in the UN.

OR

Unless the rules have changed since I started playing the game.

The nations were deleted. The moderation team necessarily has access to information that players do not, so idle speculation really serves little purpose. If I Still Like Oranges would care to appeal or ask for clarification, he certainly may.

For the record, I am not the Moderator who handled this case.

However, according to the official notation, a ring of eight UN multies were involved. For a ring this large, deletion-without-warning is justifiable.

Thank you Cogitation, that certainly clears it up. Yes, that would be a multi-ring and worthy of deletion. I was just a little confused as to why a nation would of been deleted for two, but eight. Yeah, so busted! ;)

thanks for the telegram and i have appealed, 6 of those nations were my friends and were all set up on a DIFFERENT computer than mine, so i don't see the problem, and 1 was my brother, but he doesn't care if he gets restored or not.
I think it is very unfair to delete someone BEFORE you tell them and give them a chance to appeal or at least give them a chance to sort out matters before they are deleted

have they ever played from the same computer/location as you? (school, library, etc) if so then they would probably show up as the same person because of that.

they have all logged on on my computer, they are my friends and when i went on to check my issues, if any of them were there than they logged in afterwards. How long does it take to see if an appeal is successful?

Something I don't think you're getting here is that the mods can't stand over your shoulder to see that what you're saying here is true. There have been any number of nations deleted for being multies since this game was created. There are dozens of places that the rules governing this and suggestions for how to avoid it are posted, in detail, explaining what folks have been trying to explain to you here.

You can only have one UN nation per IP address. If you have other players who have UN nations who log on using your computer, you run the risk of getting yourself and them deleted for being multies. This is not the moderators fault, it is you and your friends for not having been more careful about where you log on. Creation/point of origin for the nation does not matter. That's just the facts.

Given there is no way for the mods to be able to personally observe each and every player who has a UN nation on this game to see whether or not they really are innocent and have just had multiple people log on, or are actively trying to cheat the system, they have to go with what their reports show them. End story, end debate.

Is it fair? It may not feel that way, but then again, it isn't their fault you and your friends haven't more closely read the rules either. Not very fair of them to have to take up their time with problems like this that are player-created due to negligence, ignorance, or laziness either.

Given you've had a mod answer your question in tg, I'd say your appeal is done - unless there was info in that tg stating otherwise.

Them's the breaks, cookie. Sorry you had to learn the hard way.

[edit]PS: Whining about the fact you got deleted for not following the rules, knowingly or not, in a bunch of other threads is not likely to help your case either. I see you've already been reminded of that in another thread by a mod as well. Probably a good idea to keep that in mind, considering.

Dread Lady Nathicana, you make a valid point, but i honestly did not know people couldn't log in on the same computer. I was always careful not to let people start nations on my computer, and i was stupid to let my brother start one. but it was a simple mistake and shouldn't i get another chance at least.
i understand taht the rules have been broken, but it wasn't my fault. i never blamed the moderators, i know they are just doing there job and i hope they change there mind.

Ps. the telegram told me what i was deleted for and how to appeal.
Thanks for the info dread lady

pps. sorry if it seemed like i was whining, i was just annoyed at the time (especially, because than i didn't know what i had been deleted for)

also, where does it say about the rules governing this and suggestions for how to avoid it, just so i know for the future or if i need it for my case.

Thanks, love ME

Sticky: Ejected from the UN? Here's why (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=274575), by [violet]. Stickied in the Tech Forum.

I'll be adding that to the One-Stop Rules Shop thread later today, as it's a VERY common question and should also be in Moderation.

Yeah.

This may be a dumb question, but can two people use one PC if one or both are NOT members of the UN? My o/h's daughter has used this PC for her nation (if fact she got me into it) when she came home from Uni, but she is not a member of the UN, I am. I use this PC most of the time for playing. Can she still use this PC if she stays out of the UN?

Yes. You can have multiple non-UN nations on a given computer. It doesn't matter to us if they're played by you, your daughter, or your goldfish. The more the merrier.

Just make sure that your daughter (and other family members ... and pets) are aware of this, so they don't acccidentally get you all removed from the UN.

Thank goodness for that I have just been made a delegate. And it also good news as bob the goldfish always wanted his own nation.

How would the situation be viewed if multiple PC's are on a network that access the internet through the same firewall? Does that also show up to the mods as one person? So far only one of us is in the UN, but I'd like to know if this could be problematic.

Speaking from my tech experience, it depends on the network. MOST networks (mine included) broadcast only 1 external IPA reguardless how many internal IPA's there are... so to answer your question shortly, 90 PC's in a LAN is the same as 1 PC directly hooked up (99.9% of the time)

*NOTE* Ish not a mod. If he was, there'd be no more antacids in the house. */NOTE*

SalusaSecondus made an official post about this somewhere, but I can't seem to find it to post. In any event, he essentially said, "yes, we can tell you're using a different computer, but it still adds to the risk level you're taking."

Until somebody dredges up that post (I'm too tired to track it down), that's the best I can do.
