Background:
(I don't think this is necessary and you need not read, but I thought I'd explain just in case.)
In a heated exchange with Mutated Sea Bass, I ended a response with "Happy, skippy?"
Apparently "skip" or "skippy" is a term for an Australian of British descent. My use was snide, but not intentionally racist.
I apologized repeatedly (although I did originally doubt it was a slur based on Google searches).
Anyway, I created a thread to see whether others knew it was a slur. (I admit so part of my motivation was evidence that I my use was intentional. I did, however, think the thread was educational and I was genuinely curious.)
I tried to tell people not to pick on MSB (who I did not name) for objecting to its use. I had other issues about my exchange with MSB but chose not to report them as I think we have resolved them.
Anyway, I should have known this would devolve. People are knocking MSB for raising the objection and he is responding with increasing hostility (which is somewhat understandable).
I am not asking for investigation/discipline of anything or anyone. Just that my error in creating the thread not continue to be exacerbated.
