My nation Cruhad has been hacked. Since it was the UN delegate, the bastard kicked out all my firends and allowed in all of his. One of my friends has contacted the mods for me, since he also hacked me email too. Now he is trying to claim that I am trying to steal his nation.

I am extremely angry and it is all I can do to keep this post from being completely profane. I'm just looking for advice on what to do besides what I ahve already done.

Mods please help me-I haven't resorted to contacting you but I believe this has gone too far. This person has been trying to get access to my nation, Cruhad, for the past week. Please delete him-he has been an annoyance and has spammed my email-including trying out passwords to see if he can get the right one. Whenever I log on it says there have been seven failed attempts. PLEASE HELP ME

I feel completely at a loss.

I guess I am experiencing a form of identity theft. He stole my nation and is now impersonating me and I have no way of proving my self.

I bet many reading this don't believe me. I just hope the person who is impersonating me is brought to justice.

Mods i totaly agree and i have a idea on how to see whos it ishe is acting nice now check his posts and see if he has the same attitude and also i know that hackers try to act nice

As the Founder of the region that Cruhad used to be a part of, I must say that the primary poster IS the one who's nation was hacked. Check the IPs on the posts if you doubt me... here's a link they can be compared to. http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=8650418#post8650418

This is our RP forum, and as you can see, the False Cruhad has psoted an inflammatory message on it.

My region was attacked by a certain group, as has happened before, usually led by the nation Xason and his allies, so I PMed the Moderators about it, and took back the region. I then realized, through AIM conversations, that Cruhad had been hacked, hense the way that the region was actually attacked. He took control of Cruhad, changed the password, then ejected us all out of the region. This all happened today, luckly, I was able to catch them only about an hour after it happened, and booted everyone out of the region.

The problem is, he also got ahold of the REAL Cruhad's e-mail account, and took control of that. New Cruhad, (AKA REAL Cruhad), is now denied his e-mail account, thanks to this imposter and hacker.

New Cruhad is the real nation that should be restored to his proper glory.

Before anyone talks about hackers, anymore, let's get this clear: Whats probably going on is password-stealing, not actual hacking. A password-stealer is not necessarily a hacker.

Also keep in mind that we have NO jurisdiction over a stolen E-mail password. If your E-mail account is stolen, then you need to contact your E-mail service immediately. There is exactly nothing that we can do about a stolen E-mail account.

An investingation is still pending.

There were several more that were attemts to get the regional password, including a mis-spelling of teh region, (and possibly the world's) hardest to spell name, and "Exponnnents", and Old Menotomy and Newer Cruhad were both invaders as well.

It's because both of their nations were deleted pending investigation. When you link to the address of a nonexistant nation, your own nation shows up. At least, I believe that is how I heard it explained before.

If you click on a deleted nation's homepage, it shows you your own.

It seems to me that if I were to gain access to anyone's account, by any method, it would be hacking, as long as they didn't authorize me to use it.
Hacking implies that the password-thief did something to the NationStates site or data. They didn't.

We welcome only residents of Arlington, Massachusetts.It's no secret that the members of this region all live in the same town. It is therefore highly probably that the region's members know each other outside of the game, and one was thus able to make an educated guess as to the other's password. We don't have hackers using sophisticated hacking techniques to steal NationStates data. We have a guy being a jerk by taking advantage of personal knowledge of a friend.

That's why it's not hacking.

They have attacked two regions in the past hour or so, starting with Defiant United, and something happened in Neptune iii as well that I believe to be connected with the attack.

As a friend of the real Cruhad, I can say that the original Cruhad who was deleted was the actual Cruhad-This "New Cruhad" has been chasing him around forever to get his password-The New Cruhad is backed by such other password stealers as Juthopia, Ossipee, and New Menotomy (Who is the same person as Ossipee).

I have played Nationstates since last June. You may notice that Cruhad's password, email, national animal, currency and flag all changed the same day. Also, that day, the hijacked Cruhad changed the regional password, allowing various other spammers in, and kicked everyone in the region out. Some of the nations who entered had names mocking the names already in the region. Also, Xason tried to enter Menotomy in the past, and was kicked out after spamming the region, along with other nations who entered and were deleted for spamming and rules violations. He then created a region called Meantomiy or something of the like. Hopefully, an IP check would show that Cruhad suddenly had a login at a completely different IP. Also, looking at Cruhad's past posts, they were very formal, non-inflammatory, and, when necessary, in character. In the Menotomy message board, the hijacked Cruhad posted several inflammatory messages, as did other invasive nations. Simple logic shows that this nation's password has been stolen.

You were in a region devoted to attacking other regions and stealing their passwords, along with many others that did the same thing.

You have entered our nation several times, despite bans against you and your kind.

You have violated all the rules of the region. As the Mods can see, due to the AIM logs in the Menotomy Forum, the AIM nickname for Cruhad is on the forum. Harkguy43, it's been posted many times before the whole thing happened. Y'all can contact him there, much like I have.

Look at the Telegrams I got from Cruhad while his nation was hijacked. They are saved in my folder. They acnowledge that they aren't the original owner, and agree to opening a 'mediation' session. Why would that be necessary, if there was no nation hijacking? And the other telegram?
"Firstly-you do not know who did this.
Secondly-YOU APOLOGIZE to US in person." was in response to my attempt to restore peace. Who did what? IF there was no hijacking, then what's with the telegrams? These all were sent after complaints were sent in by both myself and HarkGuy.

I have admitted that I control both New Menotomy and Little Ossipee. There are no restrictions on that, and if there were, they would be from our RP group, which Menotomy has been inactive from. Neither are in the UN.

the original cruhad, realizing he could not do anything without an account, created new cruhad for posting.

the original cruhad informs me that he had a 7 letter password without numbers or symbols. he also says that he never told anyone this password, or saved it anyware. we belive the hacker had his computer attemting login of cruhad all weekend, and set to action on sunday night when he broke through.

we have reason to belive, that xasonx, who has hacked the reigon before and was quickly stopped by the mods, (thanks guys), was trying a new method for his revenge.

as for the email issue, we can sort that out as soon as the mods figure out who might have done this.

also, old menotomy was a new nation created by the hacker.

one last thing, if you notice, new cruhad was only created last night. how could he have been chasing him around forever?

Again, due to symantics, do not call XasonXX a hacker. Giving him too much credit, he is simply a password stealer.

Frisbeeteria, sorry, I thought I remembered something by you put up as our Regional Happenings for quite a while, before I aquired NM From the original owner. //Edit According to Hark, it was Cogitation. Thanks to you too!

by definition, a password stealer is a hacker. and he probobly did it by brute force, not by finding the password.

Folks, let's put this on hold for the moment. We need an admin's touch to clear this up, and there isn't an admin available right now.

All these accusations and counter-accusations are somewhat pointless at this time. We know what went on, we know who did what and with what and to whom, it's just a matter of verifying that. And for that we need an admin.

So let it drop for now. If there is no response, a single bump every 24 hours would suffice. I'm not going to lock this, because I also want to see this remaining open until resolved, but drop the accusations.

So now you have access to NationStates mod tools? And you have definitive proof, in the form of a posted IRC conversation that anyone could edit to say anything they wanted? Hmm, why didn't we think of just tossing our tools and rulebook out the window, and accepting your statements as gospel?

I have been working undercover as a mercenary for Menotomy.

I befriended XasonX in an attempt to finally bring him to justice. During an AIM conversation he claimed to have found a way to take control of Cruhad by taking control of his email account. By guessing the name of Nick's cat or something, he got around the forgotten password thing and got into the account. From there he changed the password to the email account. The he used the forgotten password thing on NationStates to have him sent an email to the newly acquired account containing the new password for Cruhad. With control as regional delegate, he used Cruhad's powers to eject the entire population of Menotomy.
To show him I can be trusted I created this region called The Alliance of Revenge from which he could launch into Menotomy (which he had control of the password to) a bunch of UN nations he asked me to create. I gave him the password to these nations. Luckily New Menotomy intervened with ejections before these nations could put XasonXX onto the seat of delegate. Soon after, the mods deleted Cruhad.

For a few days after XasonXX's attack on Menotomy, I decided to run the Alliance of Revenge, founded by one of my auxilary nations, Jisade, to serve as a platform for region crashers. I welcomed any nation who wanted revenge for being ejected to come to the region to plan attacks.

After a while I decided that this was wrong so I ejected everyone and myself and sealed off the region forever.

XasonXX has presented evidence to Menotomy's nations that I was instrumental in this hacking incident. However the conversations I had on AIM with Xason are only lies I was telling him in order to make him think I was on his side. But the truth is that I was setting a trap for him in which the ambush would guarantee his guilt and his punishment by the administrators.

My high risk work makes it unsafe for me to reside within the confinds of Menotomy, but what I do has ultimately the intention of finally bringing the Xason terrorist cell to its knees.

Taken care of, with maximum violence.

Due to the fact that Polska both is still under suspicion from the Menotomy Users, and violated the UN Multi rule in order to gain the UN Delegate-ship in our region, he will continue to be banned from the region. The Mods can do what they see fit with him, however.

According to the evidence that Sean, (Xason), provided, it would seem as if he was instrumental in the taking over of our region. Due to his previous behavior, (cheating to gain UN control), I am also suspect of his motives.

The Moderators need do nothing, because there is no substantial evidence against him. He ran an invasion region, which isn't technically against the rules, although in very bad taste. Jisade was the 'Anti-Cruhad', as described in a Telegram to XasonXX, (screenshot of his telegrams in the Regional Messages, Cruhad = Crusade + Jihad, Jisade = Jihad + Crusade. Took Juthopia laying it out for me to figure out). Also, due to his past UN-Multi-ing, I suggest checking the list that I proveded earlier for Multis. Supposedly the names are all of Arlingtonian people, (again, our region is from our town only),, but I have no knowledge of them.
