UN Multiing?

Comrade G
14-04-2005, 21:54
Hello, my NS nations are Comrade General, ComradeGeneral, Comrade G, and another that used to be Comrade General TPC. In the beginning of the game I didn't know about the UN Multiing. Well, I found that out the hard way and was kicked out of the UN. The reason before was my brother had also made a nation and joined the UN with it. So I then made a new nation, ComradeGeneral, and joined the UN with it and have been playing ever since with it and not breaking any rules...or so I thought. I come back today and find that the nation does not exist anymore. As you probably have already guessed my intent, Why was it deleted? I didn't spam or send abusive messages to anyone or any region. I didn't UN multi. I had JUST send a message to you all about someone ELSE who had been sending abusive messages and had spammed and now I am deleted. I am unsure as to why. I built my own gaming computer and it's in my room and no one else uses it so I don't think it was my brother...Not just is my daily playing of NS affected by this, but my honor, for I don't want to be seen as a rule breaker, for I am not. I even tell my own friends and contacts on NS not to do this or that, and not to UN multi, and be civil and whatnot. Please be kind enough to respond to this thread as to why my nation was deleted.

Thank you,
Comrade General

P.S. Forgive me if I am posting this in the wrong thread or should have used the Getting Help Page.

I didn't handle your case, but the note left by the Mod who did handle your case says that you were deleted because you ("ComradeGeneral") were a UN multi with "Jr Birdman" and because you were a past UN multi.

just a guess...does your brother still have a UN nation, but on a different computer, but you both play through a router?

OMG, I just asked him...that little devil! You are right. I'm hooked up to a wirless network in our house. He HAS been using the other computer! GOD I am so mad right now! I realize that I was a past UN multi and that's why I mentioned it. I didn't know about "JrBirdman." I've talked to him and he's agreed not to enter anymore nations into the UN. Is there ANY way to revive ComradeGeneral and to be allowed back into the UN? I can pretty much guess the answer to this, but there has to be some way or some mercy here.. Oh, and my brother doesn't have a UN nation anymore, for it was deleted too. If you would have noticed, "JrBirdman" was actually a friend of an enemy of mine and so "I" wasn't using it for increased influence of any sort. This also sheds some light on my brother's malicious intentions...OOOOH I'm so mad.

My guess (not a mod): Create another puppet. Find an internet connection that no one else has access to. Use new puppet to join UN.

The problem with that is that there IS no OTHER connection to use. I can't afford a separate DSL or Internet Connection line! Hopefully a Moderator will help me solve this..

Thanks for the suggestion though!

Well sh!t...I see why they need to be strict, and they are fully backed by me in there judgements. I just wish there was some way to get ComradeGeneral (nation deleted) revived and back in the UN...Even if the Mods were to constantly or habitually check my ISP to make sure I (or my fething brother) wasn't breaking any rules.

Thanks Heiligkeit for your helpful reply!

Thanks though for the info.

You can't get much more of a mod answer than from [violet] herself.

If you were ejected for rulebreaking (and you were, and you now know why), your nation(s) will not be revived.

I'm sorry, but as you've already realized, we can't take your word for it that your brother was involved. The nations involved will not be resurrected or unbanned from the UN.

We have many different ways of detecting these things. I would advise for the rules something as follows.

"Each person is only allowed to have (or have access to) one UN nation at any given time. To avoid false positives you should try to never have more than one UN nation per computer (or less importantly IP address)."

I'm sorry that I can't really clarify more than that. It's a complex process with many interacting components. (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=7873986&postcount=9)

Just a question, not to be sarcastic, but is there any other reason one would be ejected from the UN if not breaking rules?

I didn't say ejected from the UN, I just said ejected. I used it as a synonym for deleted. Sorry for the confusion.

I don't see any contradiction. Salusa said it is safer not to use more than one computer. there is a chance you will not be detected, and there is a chance you will be. In ComradeG's case, he(and his brother) were detected. The computers were probably hooked to the same network.

There's a difference between "safer" and "safe". As Salusa said, "(or less importantly IP address)." Less importantly doesn't mean unimportant.

The poster was using a wireless network, which uses DHCP. It's entirely possible that two different computers used at two different times showed exactly the same IP address. If you want to play on a home network, you must realize that you are taking a risk.

Happens with a wired network too fris... I have in my house 5 PC's. 3 into a rounter, then two into a switcher, then the switcher to the router. Any IP checking website shows all 5 PC's as the identical IP address... apparently only the router's IP is shown due to our firewall settings...

Good thing my sister tried and didn't like NS then eh? I can be in the UN safely!

Wow, lots of replies, most of them cold and I understand why..

I didn't KNOW he was even doing NS anymore, let alone had a UN nation. I really want that nation back along with it being in the UN, but I know it's a lost cause: Moderators can't trust me or us so it doesn't matter what my reason or argument is, too much of a hastle to habitually check to see if I only have one UN nation under the same ISP, and you all can't make exceptions or won't. I understand, really and if there was ANY way I could change it I would, but I realize I can't.

Thank you Moderators for taking your time and answering my complaint/request and thanks to you who helped also.

If you are in the states and on Road Runner you can get a second static IP for free if you ask at the local office. Leave one for the router and connect dorectly with the other-just a thought.

I, alas, have Bellsouth DSL. If I could change my IP I would so that we could both have UN nations, although I would probably not let him have one since I found out that he was trying to undermine me anyways, lol. Even though I would like to retire from positions and roles in NS to a secretive and calmer one, I can't just leave my organizations and regions left hanging, not to mention other regions. But I feel useless without a UN nation, and that nation was my favorite.

The Mods can only go by IP Addresses... there for people who use multiple computers in a lan setup will be considered UN Multi. I've heard of cases where tons of Nations were deleted because they were all using school computers. that gives off the same IP router Address and thus looks like one pc.

they go by more than just IP's...only what exactly they use as well is a secret...

also, schools are treated a little easier i think, not sure how exactly they do this though..something with .edu at the end?

I don't want to sound harsh, but all that monitoring nations that have come up as UN Multis would do 1) add immensely to the workload, as we'd have to extend it to everyone who claims to be in your position and 2)confirm over and over that these nations trigger the Multi alarms.

I'm afraid your issue is with your brother.

A qualified Yes. You may rejoin the UN, with a new nation, if you are certain that your brother does not also have a UN nation. Otherwise, it will be wash, rinse, repeat all over again.
Comrade G
16-04-2005, 05:37
That is an affirmative, thank you for your help. I think my brother will be retiring from NS early...lol. It seems he just wanted to mess with me than really try to play NS. He did a good job too and I'm still ticked, for that was my favorite nation. Is there ANYWAY I can ever make a new nation called, ComradeGeneral??? I don't mind not being able to refound it, but I need (want) that name still..
