Multiple Accounts...

Atheatic

More than one person in my house has a nationstate (all on same computer), and when a friend was over I showed him the site and he made his from my comp as well... If we all join the UN what are the chances the mods will think it is all me and delete our accounts...?

It's almost guaranteed that they will think you are breaking the rules.

If your friend starts logging in from his own computer and not yours, there won't be a problem. Your family, however is going to look like one big cheater to the mods and you'll probably get unjustly axed.

You may STILL come up as a UN multi, despite what Manawskistan says. Also, we have stated it ad infinitum -- one IP address = one computer = one player. Since we can't see who is logging in, if more than one person on the same computer is in the UN, then all will be justly axed.

With apologies to Katganistan, I'm going to correct her on this point.

one computer == one person. We go by more than IP addresses, so an IP address alone isn't going to get you. For security reasons, I will not elaborate on what else we go on, but we don't rely on IP addresses alone.

Atheatic: Only one UN nation may log in from a single computer. A second UN nation logging in from the same computer will be detected as cheating.

Sorry about that, Cogitation. I know that that particular check is one that has been discussed before here, and didn't think I should reveal the existence of the invisible flying genetically engineered kitten-cyborgs....

...oops!

Ok... then to clearify, if my friend continues to log in at his home and girlfriend logs in from a computer that is not mine we are fine...? Or since both my girlfriend and friend made their nations on my comp they can never join the UN without bringing unjust punishment?

I'm mean.. I'm not trying to cheat here. To be honest, when I was new and hadn't really read the rules I made two nations myself... but I wouldn't add the other one to the UN... I really don't care that much. What is one vote... I just want to be able to play with friends and family without being accused of something that no one with a life would ever do. Who the hell sits around and makes 400 nations with all different emails just so they can control a vote that has no bearing on the real world or really even the game. If they don't like the vote they can just leave the UN.

Atheatic, no one is accusing you of trying to cheat. We are simply stating that more than one UN nation on one computer is picked up as cheating. You may have a UN nation on your own computer, provided than no other of your family members have one as well. Conversely, any of them may have one, but the rest of the people sharing the computer may not. There really is no reason to get upset about it (as you seem to above).

Point of clarification: there is nothing wrong with having multiple non-UN nations.

To answer your question, if your girlfriend and your friend NEVER log their UN nations in from your computer again, and you NEVER log in your UN nation from their computer, you're probably safe. We do warn people, however, not to log in from public computers (such as schools, libraries, etc.) with their UN nations because of the possibility of coming up as a multi.

Forgive me for interrupting, but last yearish, when I still lived in the dorms, my roommate at the time and I both ran UN nations off of my computer for close to 8 months, without ever getting in any kind of trouble. That seems to me like you guys have ways of figuring out if someone is cheating even if they both use the same computer, right? I understand that you cannot discuss the specifics, but it's something that always gets me wondering whenever I hear a moderator say that two UN nations logging in on one computer will be detected as cheating. Just curious.

What that probably means is nobody reported you guys, and you guys weren't in a region we randomly swept for UN multies, so you guys never got subjected to a cheat scan. If you had, though, you would have shown up as multies.

Oh, so we were just damn lucky? Heh. Okay. I've always wondered.
