Not Very Nice Myrth

I dont think it was very nice for you to move the pass the love thread to spam and then say "this thread has stained General long enough". How is a thread devoted to hugs and love and positivity a "Stain"? Are you just anti-friendliness? There was no reason for you to be so nasty.

I hope someone passes some love on to you soon......thats not a mean comment, I just think you need some hugs or something.

Have you even read post #1 of that thread???

You know, that's not exactly what Myrth said, to be fair. If you're going to try and quote him, at least do it in context and quote the whole thing.

Well this smiley spam has stained General for long enough.
Off to a more fitting location.

And that thread was smiley spam, though. Almost every post had a fluffle or two or three at the bottom of it and I can link four posts with more than five smilies each. And no, I didn't go out of my way to search for them.

yes RTW and thats just splendid.....we've spent two weeks discussing spam threads and welcome threads and this and that and some of the mods were very courteous and were open to discussion. Its really bad that everyone is so crappy about the social friendly threads......when you have to defend something that is about positivity, friendliness and good cheer...its a sad day. How much fun would this place be if it were hardline, no fun, no laughs debate? NONE. That thread has lasted a loooong time and no one has complained about it and now suddenly it gets moved. And its not just that it got moved....its the attitude expressed about it being a stain on General. If being nice to people and making people smile is a '"stain" then too bad. I stain people every day and I like it when people stain me.

bah.....

That was the whole point of the thread. No one is forced to go in there and be nice to others you know.....

and I quoted the important part....the stain on General. You can split hairs if you want...he said "smilie spam" i said "thread" ...I think everyone can get that one.

Rigging the question somewhat when you define hardline debate as 'no fun', no?

ok....I'll rephrase. Constantly serious, tight ass, no laughs, no fun, plain old debate. Hows that?

Spam/SPAM: Off-topic, irrelevant and multi-posts that clog the server. This includes posting lots of smilies which is known as Smilie Spam. Also akin to spamming is Post-whoring which is when a player posts anything just to increase the postcount. Going in and out of a region and hence filling up the regional events board with departing and arriving messages is known as Events Log Spamming and is not allowed. Spamming to the point where you get deleted is known as Klamathing. Spamming in the forums should be reported through the Moderation forum, and In-game, through the Getting Help Page (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=help)

forget it.... no wait....dont forget it. Youre right....it is spam ....but so are 12 threads about religion, 6 on Homosexuality, 9 Bush/America ....we need that many threads about the same thing?? I can see several religious threads if they are specifically about different religions, but not 5 about "Does God exist?" Are you telling me thats not spam by way of repetious topics??

I would claim that serious debate is a hell of alot more stimulating, interesting, and fun that these annoying fluffle-fests. Why do you constantly imply that debate is the antithesis of all things positive and constructive? That is plainly not the case; I've been friendly with many people I've debated with, and learned about them and what they believe through much more efficient means than emoticons.
You find social threads to be more fun than debate, but the General forum is in the main, meant for debate....do you see an issue here?

For discussion and debate about anything.

Debate, as well as friendly threads, can also be done on off-site forums and elsewhere, if the rest of the Jolt forums don't strike your fancy. This way, you can be happy and avoid threads being moved for rule violations or general spamminess as deteremined by the mods.

Those who prefer serious topics need to understand that whimsical topics are not (necessarily) spam. Conversely, those who prefer whimsical topics need to understand that serious topics are not spam.

That said, there is some tolerance for whimsical topics, but keep in mind that this forum is themed on a political game, so official preference is going to be shown in favor of political threads.

As a side note: Those who are amenable to posting elsewhere on the Jolt forum system may wish to look into Chat (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=373), Serious Discussions (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=1038), general humour (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=811), spam (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=29), and the various child forums of the Jolt non-gaming forums (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=1211). Pretty much everything already discussed in "General" is already covered by these boards, and some of you may find it refreshing to take a step outside of NationStates. ...or you may not. It's up to you; I'm just saying that the option exists. If it's not spam, then you don't have to post it outside NationStates.

Still doesn't work when you are asking....

How much fun would this place be if...

and then stating 'no fun' as one of the conditions.

Excuse me, but why would Myrth ban me from the forums for expressing my opinion? I have the same rights as any other member to do so. I've done nothing to deserve banning.

You ever heard of a joke? I've seen too many of these to really take them seriously anymore, and as it is quite a few get banned because they let their dislike of having been dealt with by the mods get out of control. That's not to say the majority do, but that enough do I see a source of jokes on the issue.

Bonus points for you if you don't get a backhand for threatening a forumban....

There is an important difference between threatening one, saying one is likely to happen, and joking that one will. And if the mods think I have done something wrong, I'll accept their decision in the end and move on. I may not like it, but you don't see a shiny mod tag next to my name for a reason.

[Stern, but calm.] ...and given that the Internet is notorious for not conveying tone-of-voice or body language in text form, care must be taken to distinguish between threats, serious comments, and jokes clearly. As the matter stands, your comment about banning Peechland did not come across to me as a joke. I advise you to make yourself more clear in the future.
