Would you delete or close a thread for me please?
I don't wish to be part of any disagreement or problems, so would you please close or delete the following thread for me?

It was a very thoughtful act and a pleasant break from some very intense and emotional discussions, but it has pretty much died of it's own accord, and it is obviously a source of great consternation to the moderation team. I know I didn't originate it, but as I am the topic of it, I hope you can fulfill my request. Thank you.
Edit: I hope you have time to take care of this soon. It is embarrassing that this little thread helped contribute to the need of another sticky. Now someone is posting in another thread that non-original gereralites, myself included, have ruined the general forum with trash. I don't need this grief!!

I think you'll have to ask the thread originator (Eutrusca) to put in the request. As the thread originator, it's his prerogative to do so if he feels the way you do about it.

Kind of odd, I suppose, considering the sorts of things that do get posted in General and all. I don't think that kind efforts are 'trash'. There's plenty of other stuff that can be put under that heading, I suppose. I imagine the problems crop up when the lines become blurry on just what is and what isn't 'spam' inside those threads, despite the original topic.
In any case, since you've indicated your wish to not have things continued there, let me offer my own well-wishes here. Being a mom myself ... yeah.
Best of luck on things, and please don't take some of those comments personally. I think, as I said in that other thread, sometimes people get kind of wrapped up in their own views of things, and tend to forget that there are other views out there that while not being any less valid, may not agree with theirs. There is quite a bit of commentary that goes on that's more general than personal in any case. Just because someone thinks the General Forum overall has gone downhill doesn't mean there aren't good folks posting there.

As the thread originator, it's his prerogative to do so if he feels the way you do about it.
That's only partially true in General, as I understand the historic precedents. While RP threads in II and NS "belong" to the topic starter, General rules are a bit more restrictive. A topic starter (or anyone else, actually) can request a moderation review of the topic, and it's up to the mod to agree or disagree with the rationale. However, a topic starter can't always request closure or deletion just because he's losing the argument. A poll that has finished, an off-topic discussion that's taken over, excessive flaming or trolling; those are all good reasons for closing the topic. The rules aren't etched in stone because there's so much variability in potential reasons, including the reader's perception of what was intended.
In this case, I went ahead and closed the thread on my own judgement. Nobody has posted to it in more than 24 hours, and given Zooke's request, it seems reasonable to do so.

Oh, okay. Thanks for clearing that up.
