Iceland now Harbors Terrorist is the title of one of the threads on the General forum. As an Icelander I find this very offensive. It is not based on any facts or truth and is harmfull to my nations good name. Robert Fischer is not a terrorist and the title has no moral standing.
I would like to ask you to delete that thread, to tell the truth I can not understand why you let it be on the forum for so long.

well there is free speech here, more or less. The author is expressing an opinion he or she feels. Once it become a blanket statement to anger people, thats where it crosses the line into flame/troll.

As of right now, I think the thread is simply expressing an opinion. After all, if we (meaning the moderators) deleated all offensive threads there wouldn't be threads on religion, terrorism, or national comparisons.

I feel some sympathy for the guy. I mean he just wanted to play a damn chess game. It is most unnerving to hear that title though. I mean that's like saying "New York" funds terrorists because of all the 7-11s and taxi's. As a New Yorker I'd find that offensive, albeit I would chuckle a little.

He or She could have named the thread IS Iceland Harboring a Terrorist?, Does Iceland Harbor Terrorists, etc
The title gives the notion that Iceland really does hrbor terrorists and that is a lie.

So according to you I could post a thread with the title I hate the Jews, I love Hitler, I think all of you suck, Fuck the Gay's etc.???? I don't think so, Its WRONG.

I Hate the Jews, I Love Hitler is a little over the top because it aims to anger Jews, hence, trolling.

After reading the thread, the primse might have been stupid but it was okay. Now though, the thread is just rife with flaimbait and trolling.

I just locked this thread for reasons that had nothing to do with your request, North Island. It had become a haven for trolls and flamers.

BLARGistania is correct. We don't shut down threads because someone somewhere might be offended, or because a nation's good name would be sullied. Check out the Anti-USA topics sometime, and tell me how much General would shrink if we removed just those topics. My guess would be 10% off the top, maybe more.

In the future, please provide a link when posting a complaint. Makes it much easier for us to do our job here.

I know my titles i.e.'s were a litle extreem but just to give you guy's an idea of what people could post. Then again you know that.
P.S. I really dont think any threads should have a negative title or one that gives people false notions, Anti-U.S. and everything else included but thats just me I know it cant be done. However I think there should be some restrictions on what a title can say.

He's using the "collective" we to refer to all of NationStates, with the Moderators acting as agents, as opposed to the "inclusive" we, adding himself to the group. It's clear enough in context. I don't think we (inclusive) would have acted on that in any case.
