Do rule infractions ever fade from memory?

Let's just say, hypothetically speaking, that a long time player violates one of the more basic rules, such as having more than one nation in the UN at a time. The Mods, acting completely ubiased and with only the well-being of the players at heart, warn the player justly. Then, still keeping this in the "What if...." realm, he didn't break any rules for a very long time. Then, still hypothetical of course, he happens to go on a flaming spree that would shock even those who have witnessed the horrors of General from the very beginning.

Naturally this is all theoreitcal but, just for my own curiosity, would he merely be warned again, or would firmer action be taken since this is second time the Mods have taken notice?

Hmm...evil thoughts have you, yes?

(/end Yodaspeak :D )

Seriously, though, I think if you went on a flaming spree, the mods would still deat you, but if you misstepped once and your last warning was two years ago, they might cut you some slack. Though technically, if you have a warning, the mods can deat you without warning if they have cause and some things are deatable even if you don't have any warnings on your record.

I disclaim any liability for my lack of m0dz0rly p0w3rz.

Age of infractions is taken into account. However, for a spree such as you describe, we'd probably kill without warnings anyway.

But yes, infractions do fade from memory (usually). Some never do. For example, if you've been ejected from the UN, that nation will never be allowed to return. However, the fact that it counts as a warning might be forgotten after enough time.

Needless to say, if someone has done enough to not only be warned by us but also to piss us off, the likelyhood that we'll forget the warnings is highly unlikely.

Oh, I do.

"Warned: Using a puppet to flame/spam in the forums. Mar 15 -MGH" Hm. That would have been just over a year ago, I didn't start recording the year until June or July of '04.

:p That, of course, doesn't take into account the nations who continually remind everyone of why action has been taken against them -- by repeating those same actions over, and over, and over, and... ;)

My most favourite nation (Not my main nation) has been deleted for spamming, one year and 3 months ago. I haven't forgotten it, so why should a mod forget it? I was very stubborn, and got what I deserved. Time moves on, and so do we all. We are not the same as one year ago. If a person still hasn't learned after one year, s/he will again get what s/he deserves. It is easy as that :)
