Regional Founder?

Back in August during the first of the 2004 North Pacific "events", me and a few other players co-founded a new region, the International Democratic Union. However, the player and his puppet (our founder) recently expired, leaving our region without a founder.

Is it possible, if I were to talk to the other players (including our current Delegate), for the moderators to create a new founder for a region? I remember reading a long time ago that sometimes this might be possible, but I also vaguely remembering this being a long-shot.

Obviously if I had the email of the founder, I'd email him (his UN nation was the Xtraordinary Gentlemen) and ask for his password so those of us whom are behind could protect the region. (Actually I really am more interested in tracking him down for our off-site regional forum.) But I just assumed he'd always be around. In fact, I'm a bit worried about his leaving the game, because he didn't announce anything. He could simply be too busy with school (he was in college), but I am hoping for that ... it seems the best. :)

As many of you know, I've been playing for some time, and a number of us have spent a great deal of time setting up the IDU and I'd personally hate to see another North Pacific styled invasion.

Thanks,

As far as I know, the mods only put a new regional founder in after a griefing situation (or any other extreme situation), but it'd be really nice if they granted you a new founder, seeing as you're quite an honest person, as well as a devoted person to the game. :)

Just have the UN Delegate lock the region. Problem solved.

If the UN Delegate doesn't have access, problem solved - because no new delegate will have access.

When the Founder dies (or leaves the Region), the Delegate automatically gains power in the Region.

And our Delegates have thus far done a great job. :)

I was just curious what the policy was on founders for regions where there have been several long-standing players, but the founder goes away. Obviously there are regions without founders ... and I would imagine that these regions might seem like interesting places for invaders to focus on, but the point in the original founding of the region was so that we would _not_ experience another event like the North Pacific ejections.

As an aside, on our off-site forum XG was the only admin, and while a number of us are moderators, we can't add new forums or update a few things. I know NS can't do anything about that, and I'm praying (well hoping at least) that perhaps he is just super busy with school and will get my invision message. If I had his email, I would have fired off a polite email before.

Of course, this is not a pressing situation. Nothing bad has happened. I just want to see if we can act first to prevent an invasion. :)

Your region seems fairly active (http://nseconomy.thirdgeek.com/nseconomy.php?region=International_Democratic_Union), apart from a couple of slackards. Why not convince everyone to move to another region temporarily and refound the thing? That way everyone is happy. You get a founder, XG gets the boot, and moderation doesn't have to go against policy and grant a foundership, which we're not likely to do anyway.

1) Everybody moves out.
2) IDU gnomes steal underwear.
3) ... ?
4) Profit!

See how easy that is?

just a little thought....
if he is on the forum, or even admin of the forum, can't you just email him through there?

Ooohhh, good idea. I just noticed that in addition to PMs that invision does allow you to email people, so I fired one to him. :) Danke!

And thanks Fris. I actually considered trying to organize something like that, and feel we could do it, but a few of us are attached to the name "International Democratic Union". A few nations have adopted IDU flags for their off-site forum avatars (or better stated, images from the IDU flag). But ultimately we are pretty small, and not in any present or real invasion danger.

So if we were to leave, how long would the IDU stick around if it had no nations? Basically do regions disappear when they no longer have nations?

During the Minor Update too, no?
