Flamebait in General

Reporting threads in this forum is distinctly not my style, but this to me is flamebaiting of the worst kind:

By his own statistics, it's a racing certainty that New British Glory's post will be seen by parents of Dyslexic and/or autistic kids on this board. And indeed a couple of such parents have already posted in the thread, myself included. Dyslexia is relatively mild; but if you're a parent, you'll understand the pain of having a child that's autistic. Being then told by some sixth former that you're responsible for your kid's lifelong disability is not good. It's like being told that if your kid has a broken limb, you must have done it yourself.

I'm finding it very difficult to refrain from pointing out to NBG what I would do to him if he was standing in front of me now .............

I'm a little confused/concerned. It was an unpopular arguement but nevertheless, it was his opinion. Is NS getting all touchy-feely regarding peoples sensibilities now? I think asking the Jews to accept the holocaust deny'ers is far harder to stomach than this. Just my $0.02

When it comes to trolling, it doesn't matter if an opinion is truly held or being tossed out there to provoke anger. New British Glory was trolling by posting an incendiary title that had nothing whatsoever to do with his argument. He wasn't warned, he wasn't even slapped. He was just notified by me in my Mod persona that we considered it trolling, which is one of the Forbidden Actions (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=288255) that are against site rules.

One of the reasons we allow all viewpoints, including racist, poorly phrased and/or nonsensical arguments, is so that other nations have a chance to shout them down with better-structured arguments. I didn't censor his point, I didn't correct his misapprehensions (despite the fact that I volunteer at an autism summer camp and know for a fact that his expressed conclusion was utter bullshit), I just pointed out the flaws in his argument.

As always, this call was about site rules. That's all.
