I just want verification that my region's factbook entry isn't considered an illegal advertisement or something.

There doesn't seem like there's anything wrong with it. There are specific regions out there designated for specific 'games' or similar interests. I'm not a mod, however.

There was some iffy advice about sending random recruiting telegrams in your RMB, but the factbook looked fine. I'm 99% sure that naming your region after another site on the web is fine. I lived in region Jokeaday for over a year, and the FARK regions have been here much longer.

You mention your regional forums, but you don't say how to get to them. I'm assuming these would be the GolemLab forums? If you did provide a link, it would be smart to link to a dedicated NationStates forum within the main forums, or at the very least a NS thread.

World Factbook Entry: Welcome to GolemLabs, in beautiful Sherbrooke, Québec. GolemLabs is a Canadian game designer. They created a game called SuperPower, or GlobalPower, if you live in Europe.

YOU ARE FREE TO CHAT ON THE REGIONAL BOARD AS LONG AS YOU DON'T POST SENSITIVE INTELLIGENCE OR SPAM THE PLACE UP. Thank you.
You're fine. My own region, The Realm of Ambrosia (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=the_realm_of_ambrosia), is based on Ambrosia Software Incorporated (http://www.ambrosiasw.com), which has it's own webboard community.

We've never really had a problem with regions being created for commercial advertising, so we don't have a formalized policy on this. Speaking generally, though, creating a region (by itself) is generally not intrusive upon other nations or regions. So, I (as a Moderator) am going to be a little more tolerant of general advertising in World Factbook Entries than in Civil Headquarters boards or NationStates forum topics. As long as the advertising is not clearly commercial in nature (like "Lowest mortgage rates" or "Aluminum siding for your hose") or otherwise trying to make money off of NationStates, I don't think there are going to be any problems.

Of course, this policy will change if we Moderators feel that NationStates or its players are being somehow abused.

*bats an eyebrow at Cog*

Eh, it's a novel idea, I guess. :p :D

"Aluminum siding for your hose"
They call it "protection" for a reason, I guess!
