Deleting a Thread

*sigh* I really wish deleting your thread before anyone replied was an option.

Oh well.

Sometimes when I'm exposed to new things that I don't agree with, I fly off the handle --- note: I'm using disgression as I write this. Here's a thread I made just now on Baha'i. Not exactly my shining hour, and it is being perceived as trolling, which I'll admit, it does seem to be a bit.

I just get carried away... Lo siento.

Anyways, sorry for the trouble. And believe me, I'm not intentionally an asshole... only a wiseass.

It doesn't translate well in text. You might want to work on composing your replies a bit less confrontationally before we actually DO mistake you for an troll.

Actually, I'm just going to summon the courage to insist that it be deleted and not simply locked. I'm aware of the whole luck-of-the-draw with Mods, but if it's evident that some are on today that will delete threads, I'd like for one to swoop by and save my greatful butt, like so...

Much obliged...

The deleted thread referenced was in International Incidents. Policy allows the deletion of RP threads at the request of topic starters.

This same policy does not apply to General. Once the topic is posted, the policy is: "General" topics not to be locked on request without good reason and not to be deleted on request without very good reason.Having posted the topic, other posters replied with their answers (which largely took you to task for your phrasing). The fact that the responses didn't make you look all that good was insufficient reason to lock or delete the thread. The fact that you recongized that others considered your posts to be trolling, and saw how they could interpret them as such I took as a sufficient reason to lock, but insufficient to delete.

It's not so much about "luck of the draw" as it is about following the rules of the specific forum. It is possible that another mod would have simply left it alone, but it's unlikely that another mod would have deleted it out of hand.
