Flamebait: cat or dog thread

Here is a quote from this thread. It really angered me:
Unfortunately, catching them was impossible, since you couldn't get closer than 30 feet to them. So, I shot all but 2, who disappeared mysteriously.

It is on the general forum, cat or dog thread, post #49.

Not an expert on rules, but I don't see any flamebait. It might be disturbing to some, or defamatory to himself/herself in some's eyes, but I don't think it's against rules...

I have to agree, I don't believe it's against the rules either, but I guess we'll have to wait to see what an actual moderator says.

In future, Oksana, you should provide a link. http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=8370045&postcount=49

The offending bits:By the way, for all you cat lovers, here's a story. You see, my father owns a development. It has been built up over the last two years. We had a bad problem with stray cats runing around in the place, pissing on people's houses, and getting into their trash, etc. Well, my father gave me the job of getting 15 cats out of the development. Unfortunately, catching them was impossible, since you couldn't get closer than 30 feet to them. So, I shot all but 2, who disappeared mysteriously. :)
Had HadesRulesMuch stated, "By the way, here's a story," it would have been cut-and-dried, no moderator action needed. It doesn't matter that it angers you that HadesRulesMuch doesn't share your thoughts on cats or animals or whatever, it would just be a difference of opinion.

When he adds the phrase "for all you cat lovers" he crosses over into the realm of targetted trolling. It's obviously intended as a poke to cat lovers in general (not Oksana the cat lover in particular, therefore not flamebait), and is therefore in my opinion a mild form of trolling.

I don't consider this actionable, but I will cross-post part of this to that topic.

It helps if I have a link (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=8370045&postcount=49) to work with, rather than having to go to the search function. A link to a post can be obtained by right-clicking or control-clicking the number "49" and selecting "Copy URL" or "Copy Link Location" or some such thing. You can then paste the link here in "Moderation" to link directly to the post.

As for the post itself.... I'm reminded of a case where someone posted a topic in "General" about how his cat got killed by the neighborhood dogs and went into explicit detail about how he was planning to wage his own personal war and kill his neighbors dogs, ranging from feeding them brake fluid to assault with shovels. After consulting with an Admin, I warned him for violation of the "malicious" clause.

The case now under consideration is not quite the same thing. First, he's talking about strays, not someones beloved pets. Second, this is something that already happened, not something that he's planning to do. Third, he doesn't seem abnormally fixated with killing cats (at least, not as fixated as the guy who talked about killing the neighborhood dogs).

I do note that he chose to preface his anecdote with the comment "By the way, for all you cat lovers, here's a story." This does suggest that he posted the story specifically to incite cat lovers, which would fall under the definition of trolling. Hoever, it doesn't seem severe enough to warrant an official warning. Hence, I'm going to call it borderline trolling, draw his attention to this judgment and tell him to tone it down.

As an isolated incident, I don't think we need to worry about this. However, if this becomes a trend, then post here with another link.
