Hello... not to seem annoying or pushy, but I was wondering how would I go about appling to be a moderator? I have been an active player of NationStates since March '04, though I admit I dont much bother with the Jolt Forums. I have extra free time on my hands, and would like to donate it to help NationStates continue to be the fun game that it is.

Oh... and you know what I find funny? I bought both books after playing the game... from what I understand, many play the game for they read Max Barry's book. :p

I have to say I've not had the oppertunity to jump into the jolt-forum (I am used to IPB, and have a hard time using it) and was wondering if there were any other ways to help other than needing to be active there first?

People don't apply.... mods choose. And lookie - we still have November 02/Dec 02/Jan 03/ etc nation still not made moderators! Your nation creation date doesnt play a part.

Be more active in helping people out around here and Tech (and UN, or if you're a Generalite...), and you'll get noticed.

And please don't suck up like some people in NS that post on moderation and try to wax the mods' ass every post...

I wax the Moderators' collective asses because I recognise the difficulty of the job they perform and how much flack they get for it. I shall not deny it or apologise for it, because they know not to offer the position to me. I'd abuse it long enough to put the General forum where it belongs (outside NS) before they fired me.

Appreciation and sucking bunghole are very different. Helping them out and appreciating them is not a problem and I think everyone should do that but to go as far as to actually try to do their job in hopes of getting the position and such.

And frankly, I don't know why anyone would want to be a mod. Don't they have ENOUGH stress in their life? LOL...

LOL...You mean like regularly fishing through General for things that might possibly stray out of boundaries? Well, if they've got hip-waders for the job, I say more power to them. I gather that one of the ways to be recognised as potential Moderator material is to be seen as helpful and fair-minded. Yet another reason why I shall not be approached for the job: I pride myself in being neither.

I know why anyone would actively seek to be a Moderator on NS, but I think it simultaneously certifies them as lunatics. Some people just like to wear the shiny badge. More interested in the power than the responsibility that goes with it.
