Question for the Mods, please do not read otherwise!

I have a question: would it be permissible to post a topic thread in General advertising an Open-source magazine (a la Wikipedia, but a magazine) produced by a company I am affiliated with? The concept is basically a magazine in which the articles are contributed by the community, edited by community-elected editors and then published both online and in paper. However, we need to advertise the site to build a community to contribute. Would a thread of this nature be permissible? (It might be a little while before it actually apears, as we need to work out a few bugs.) I ask because I am not sure if this conflicts with spam rules.

Thanks for your time.

No.

As supreme emperor of the world, I feel I may make inane comments at will.

Actually, I'm interested in the answer, so I'm just keeping this thread alive.

Just thought I do this instead of say "Stag" or "Thump" or whatever you internet people say.....

Oh, damn, sorry, it was on the front page and that last part was cut off. Sorry about that.

Haha, it's ok. I just put that to avoid liability if they said "hey, talking about it here is spam too!", though I doubted that would happen.

No need to bump, thread is 2 hours old, and still on first page.

OK, but some people don't see sigs. But I'll do that for now.

I'm not aware of any current rule concerning this, but I would guess it would depend on the context. If you're advertising the link just for the sake of advertising it, it might not be a good idea. If, however, there's something in there that has some pertinent data to the dicussion at hand, you could probably sneak in a little plug.

Considering the link doesn't work, I'd think it was a moot point. ;)

You could always buy advertising space with Jolt :)

In general terms, we don't mind off-site material being linked provided it doesn't have content that might be considered inappropriate to actually be on NationStates, so long as you don't spam it.
