Vote Early is defaming my name by accusing me- wrongfully and without facts- of godmodding. This is not a word for word violation of the rules, but this falls under the flaming category. VE is blatantly lying in an attempt to damage my character. Had this been normal society, I could easily have sued him for libel or slander, depending on them eans of annoucement.

VE is making up stories that damage my character as a roleplayer. Through his malicious lies, he is injuring a reputation I have built up to this point in time, a record so sterling I have never been complained about in over 1,000 posts to the moderators. VE threatens this entire record with lies designede to destroy my record. I ask that, in light of the severe repercussions these lies can easily bring to my time here on NS that VE be warned about making rash accusations without the basis of proof.

How is this flaming? You asked him why you were being ignored and he answered you. Just because he says something that you don't like to hear or says something that "tarnishes your reputation" doesn't mean you're being flamed. I think it's also fair that all the evidence be presented here and not just a piece of one post. VE also posted some examples of why he ignores other people so it's obvious that he's not blindly making baseless accusations and creating stories all around.

In addition, remember that the mods don't regulate role play and hence don't regulate ignores. Just live and let live. One accusation, especially one you call "baseless," won't kill your reputation or cause "serious repercussions".

Mods don't regulate roleplay, but that doesn't mean we ignore the use of Ignores as flamebaiting. Taunting or gloating about using Ignore can be viewed as flaming or flamebaiting, though it's not often obvious. In this case, I would advise VoteEarly to tread carefully. There's not enough there for a warning, though.

Just a thought as I'm reading this and all, being involved in rp and concerned with ic reputation and all ...

If your record is so above reproof, then perhaps there really is no need to get so stirred over the accusations of someone whom many have decided, for one reason or another, not to play with. Regardless of whether he is respected or no, your reputation ought to hold up to a little statement like that. The term 'godmodding' gets tossed about fairly frequently on the boards after all, and I've noticed it can be amusing how much of it can be dismissed out of hand, or by the same token, just goes without saying.

Given the forum setup, everyone is capable of reading back over your posts, asking other people for their opinions on it, etc - you know, doing some research on you to make their own decisions on the matter. If such claims are false, it just makes the person making them look bad in the end, not so much yourself.

Sometimes overreacting and making a big fuss over something that truly can be shrugged off when looking at the bigger picture can do more harm to your reputation than letting someone just state their opinion, and letting it go. Sometimes the proper response on such an attack, especially an unfounded one, is silence.

Granted, opinions may vary on this sort of thing, but I thought I'd share a different approach. Best of luck - hope it all pans out for you.

Eh Samtonia, word of the wise concerning such. Those reasons that are thrown out are often hidden in the closet of this who throw them. Often said people can dish but not recieve. Adopt my policy: "Pay no mind, they're not worth the bandwith."
