'Unnecessary and borderline-inappropriate content.' Images are held to a much higher standard than text is.

In which it is posted as a means of creating debate, which is ok. Fanservice is not ok.

Discussion in General != Role Play.

A discussion in General requires the picture so that people know what they are debating. It's impossible to debate the merits of the dress without knowing what the dress looks like.

In a role-play, it serves nothing, save to paint your minister as a tart. In other words, it's pointless fanservice. If was want your minister to look like the model, simply crop the picture to a head shot.

I see. What is 'Fanservice'?

OOC: Well the truth is that my Chancellor would likely debate between sending a diplomatic reply or a twenty Krondor bill and a cheap hotel room key. I mean a teenager prom dress is decidedly in bad taste for a Foreign Minister.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=fan+service

1. fan service
In general, fan service refers to scenes designed to excite or titillate the viewer. This can include scantily-clad outfits, cleavage shots, panty shots, nude scenes (shower scenes especially), etc. Some broader definitions also include things like cool mecha, big explosions, battle scenes, etc. Basically, if it has little plot-redeaming value, but makes the viewer sit up and take notice, it's probably fan service in one form or another.

I see. Certainly the mods reserve the power to erase whatever they want. Personally, I got the idea from posts in that debate thread how this sort of style was "southern" rather than "NYish" in nature. Since I couldn't find any pics of women in cutoff "Dixie" shorts, I used that picture, to go with Allanea's general style [think a huge postmoderntech US Midwest]

Allaneans are in bad taste in general. We drive pickup trucks to state meetings. We play heavy metal in full volume to use as a psychological weapon in battle. On celebratory occasions we dance on the roofs and fire guns in the air.

I'm not sure if you think your describing Allena as having a taste in rual american dress code and behavior, or just think that is funny....or both.

The only person who would think that dress was cool was the silly girl who wanted to 'catch' some boy in the back seat...

No, I don't think it's funny. I actually like that stuff myself, but my nation IC overdoes it... a bit...

Frankly sir, I find your outrageously stereotypical methods of expressing what your nation's 'style' is offensive. Nothing you've done there is representative of -any- part of the US - Midwest, Southern, or otherwise. You have the right to present your nation in the manner you wish to of course, but please refrain from dragging my real-life nation through the sludge of your imagination while doing so. Just claim it to be what it is - your own rather twisted view of things - and be done with it, rather than insulting those of us who live here with your blatantly over-hyped mess. It's bloody hard to 'picture' what you're suggesting when the images I come up with in no way equate to what your mind obviously has.

In any case, in an effort to be helpful, there are pictures out there that may be more appropriate to the image I think you're reaching for - such as the following - which may be considered somewhat less offensive:

Perhaps I should have made it clear, DLN, stereotypical, fictional MidWest unlike real one. Personally, I believe the US[Allanea is an idealised US[America]. I know a lot of Americans - players whom I respect greatly - who actually directed comments to me through AIM and various other methods to tell me how much they LIKED the way I made Allanea to be. Not everybody has the same tastes as you do and I don't think you should be calling me "twisted" or "sick". Certainly I know people who come from the 'south' who LIKE Allanea and the way I play it. Are they people from your 'rp circle'? No, but I respect them. I demand nothing from you - but I do ask you give me minimal respect. NS has Fascist, Nazi, Communist nations but Allanea is suddenly 'twisted'? There's nothing 'twisted' about Allanea. It might be corny, but I like it the way it is.

I respect the mod ruling as made on my image as I noted before. I would like to request the mods to please tell me if the first image among those so kindly posted by Nathi here is appropriate. [http://www.skirtsandshorts.com/shorts/Devon.jpg]

Finally, Nathi, as an attempt to at least slightly sort out the bad blood between us, I would like to thank you for your kind help [I spent quite a long time looking for pictures like this, but perhaps you use better search engines - or maybe got a better SafeSearch filter]. I am sorry if the above offends you, for this is not at all intentional.

Your explanation doesn't offend me in the least - some of your rp content does. And as stated, it is a matter of opinion, not law. I'm well aware opinions vary, and that mine is no better than anyone elses. The only claim I have to it is that it is mine, and I'll stick with it. I find your vision of an 'idealized US' disturbing, and on occasion, insulting.

You are rather off on 'my rp circle' comments and the like - I'm not representing any of them in my statements, so you might want to rethink all that jazz. They're entirely capable of making their own observations - I don't need to try and do it for them. They've nothing to do with any of this.

I do have opinions on a lot of the nations out there (hell, don't we all?) - the fact that I haven't listed them all here is entirely beside the point, as this thread is concerning you, and only you.

You will have that respect you want when you've earned it, and not a moment before. As for 'bad blood', I'm afraid that must be on your side of things. I'm just commenting on topic, and stating an opinion on it - as anyone here is free to do. The fact that I find you to be impossible to rp with doesn't mean others do, or that others need to take the approach I have to it. Like I said, you're free to do what you like, within the rules, so long as you're aware that everything has consequences - good and bad.

You get out of it what you put into it - pretty simple.

(As for searches, you just have to try different words and combinations - that was just plain Google there. Best of luck in the future on finding things.)

I uses Yahoo search, keywords 'Redneck girl', 'Dixie Shorts', and the like. Thank you very much.

As per style, well, after starting Allanea, I found out lots of established authors had similar stuff in mind - McWilliamson's Freehold, Neil Smith's Probability Broach, Ayn Rand's Fountainhead all in different ways contributed to my developement of Allanea after I created it - and to my vision of an "idealized world. Other books I was influenced by include, but are not limited to, John Ross's Unintended Consequences, Smith's [again] Pallas, and Heinlein's Red Planet. With movies, I drew upon Postman, Red Dawn, and Tremors (Yes, I know the latter is parody) for inspiration. I also was inspired by various non-fiction writers from Jefferson to Smith and Suprinowitch to Joyce Lee Malcolm to create my Allanean Dream.

I am at a deep loss as to how anybody could find that offensive.

It isn't your sources. It's the manner you have presented it all in. And for reference? Simply because you can note names and sources does not lend you any measure of credibility. Just ask anyone who's borrowed from any movie/book/game concept and their many opponents on these boards.

It's all in how you do it. Not in what you can ref.
