Rules clarification...

Would something be considered flamebait still if I was to get back into my right mind and decide against posting it right after I did so, and delete it?

EDIT:
I mean directly after, as in before anyone else reads it or anything. As in right after I click the "submit" button.

Um...if you deleted it right after there wouldn't be anything to "bait" the "flames" if you got no reponses. Generally though, a mental lapse/not taking meds/smoking pot/being drunk/etc. is not a recognized excuse for breaking the rules. Do you have an example?

EDIT AFTER YOUR EDIT: well obviously you wouldn't have an example then...but read my first sentence. If no one saw it, then there's no flamebait, ya know?

Well, I agreed with a slightly offensive statement that somebody made about somebody else, then decided I was being an idiot and deleted it. I'm just wondering if it would be proper for me to report what I said, or if I should just leave it like it currently is.

I don't know. Obviously you should wait for a mod's opinion on the subject, but how I see it...

...if no one else saw your post...and it's not there anymore...then I guess you should just not do it again, ya know?

Myrth is kicking around here somewhere, I think, so I'll wait for him or whoever shows up after him.

Good plan. Kat's here as well just so you know.

Well, if you were, oh, posting pornography and then immediately deleting it (which has happened in the past), you'd be warned. If it's just "agreeing with a slightly offensive statement", however, you should be fine (although it's always a good idea to think before you post).

If you'd be so kind as to link to the thread in which this occurred (preferably the page), I can make a more definitive judgement.

As long as you get rid of it before the person it was aimed at sees it and responds or complains, I tend to ignore it.

It was in this wonderful thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=391876&page=1&pp=15).

Ah. Well, I'd say that's pretty minor - of course, since you've deleted it allready, you don't really have anything to worry about.

Okay, thanks for looking at that for me.

Not a problem - it's what we're here for, after all.
