Are you interpreting the right to buy American first as a requirement to buy American first, or get out? Or is this just some random red herring because your medication is no longer working????

I was VERY offended by this, and I hope that a moderator will take action. I am currently on Paxil for anxiety, because I had a few panic attacks at school.

Kahta, do you have some reason to believe the poster concerned actually was referencing your condition, or might the comment merely have been unfortunate due to your particular sensibilities?

I really don't care. I took offense to the comment, implying that I would be crazy without my medicine.

While I honestly think you're overreacting quite a bit...

In short-what the FUCK does that have to do with what I said??? Where in the hell did I imply that you couldn't buy American first??? It seems to me you are trying to stomp on this poor guys 9th amendment right to buy whatever the hell car he wants to. Maybe you should be focusing on your own little civics lesson.

...this is a little unnecessary as well. I don't KNOW exactly WHY he'd post THAT. (lol...who uses caps...honestly...)

That's what I was worried about. If you had a broken leg and were particularly anxious about it, you're healing would be impeded. This effect is magnified when the condition you are anxious about is anxiety.

The comment is no more insulting to you than your comments about spelling to another poster are to me (as a dyslexic).

People are generally ignorant about stress and anxiety conditions, and comments about 'needing meds' are unfortunately common (and dont really refer to anxiety illnesses anyway, but rather are referencing more severe mental illness than a mere anxiety condition). There's nothing wrong with anxiety conditions beyond the inconvinience it is capable of causing to you. Forget comments by the ignorant and unknowing, if you are happy with yourself they dont matter, if you are not, they are the least of your problems.

The whole point about an anxiety condition is that you dont need any more things being capable of causing anxiety to you, than can be avoided.

I guess what I'm really driving at here is that the comment shouldnt be insulting unless you are not comfortable with your condition, and that is more of a concern than anything someone else says to you.

About a quarter of all people who have access to 1st world medical care, will be diagnosed with a 'mental function' illness or condition at some point in their life, most of them with more severe conditions than your own. It's nothing to be ashamed about, and it's counter-productive to your wellness to be sensitive such comments. Of everyone here Kahta, you know you best, so if you are ok with you, ignore the odd ignorant comment, trust me, if you dont tell 'em, no one will ever know how personally it could be construed.

You cant choose what other's say, but you have all the power in the world over how you react to it. :fluffle:

My anxiety is caused by being around people in a group larger than 4. That includes aquaintences, people I am friendly with, people I don't like, friends, and best friends. I get very nervous in urban places too, although that is probobly because I'm afraid of people from other cultures, and ethnic backrounds, unless I have spoken with them before.

Panic attacks ARE NOT fun, trust me.

Kahta, if he did not know, and or had no way of knowing that you are on medication then the comment was a general one and not aimed at you.

I am on Prozac, as I am a diabetic depressive - I need my daily pill and boy am I glad I have them But it doesn't mean that ever 'anti' depressive/ depressive ignorant comment is aimed at me.

It just seems to me that you are taking exception where none was meant. I feel you should step back and take a deep breath. ( Just my opinion )

I'm crazy with medicine. You don't hear me makign a federal case out of it.

I think you need to take a deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeppp cleansing breath. Done? Ok, now, let's look at the situtation this way: the person made an uneducated statement. Stuff like that happens a lot on forums like these. I think you need to realise that there are ignorant (people who don't know) on these forums.

yes, i'm pretty sure a lot of people on these forums are my age(early teens), and people at that age tend to use the words "retarded" and such quite often(many times for no reason, just that you made a stupid comment). Now, that does offend me occasionally, but i don't show it, but think of it as stupid kids acting stupid.
And yes, the ever popular question "Did you forget your pills this morning?" is also, sadly, quite common. I myself must resist the urge to say something very angrily at them for saying that, but it is just a common thing for young people to say, as they are ignorant and don't understand that there are people out there who fit the description you give them. Now, if he is an adult, then i must say, i'm quite sorry for him, that is not a very adult-like phrase

Huh, I think this is the first time this has happened to me. Though I don't check moderation very often.

Alright, with out malice or any backhandedness I will apologize. I did not know that you where on medication and in no way mean to imply that you should be ashamed or any less worthy of basic respect for being on or taking medication. If I have made you uncomfortable or offended you (and it seems I have) I am genuinly sorry.

I don't post on the moderation boards because greater minds than I handle them. But, that being said....

Kahta- Cannot think of a name has made what appears to be a well thought out apology. Would you please take it as sincere and not let his/her off-hand remark offend you? I'm sure that was never the intention and was simply an unfortunate coincidence. We can all learn to moderate our remarks from this. You never know if the poor grammar is due to English as a second language, or the poor spelling is due to dyslexia, or using the term "having a fit" is directed to an epileptic. I can appreciate your battle with panic attacks, but they will get better. Dealing with this situation with insight and understanding will help serve to make you stronger.

But, take note, if someone refers to me as a "gray-headed, wrinkled, cranky old lady with boobs hanging to the waist" I might or might not be offended, but I will assume you do know me. ;)

Kahta, you turned a harmless car thread into a flame war, thus bringing it upon yourself. I can understand your deeply-rooted patriotism, but just try to be a bit more subtle. Thanks for the links.

I was thinking about this and believe that withstanding Kahta's situtation, that dig about medication was a flame in either case. It was designed to be rude and not further discussion. Ignorance of a medical condition doesn't make it any more or less so.

No, not at all. Just relax a bit. There will always be those who prefer imports.
You do your a country a great service, but you can't convince everybody to do the same.

For those that prefer imports, I'd prefer that they go to jail for treason...

This is not the place to be discussing imports.
