Request for a thread type ban

Alright, maybe you've seen them maybe not. In General there has been an influx of threads regarding America, it's people, and it's culture. They are all basically flamebait. In the same way you made a ban on ; "Ask a <Ethnicity, Nationality, Religion, Political Alignment>" I would ask for this for the same reason. Now, I know it's a bit of a big thing for me to ask to change Forum Policy.. but these threads really are just an excuse to flame or be flamed. There's been quite a few of them, there's One (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=387611&page=1&pp=40) going on at the moment. If you look around more will pop up. I believe one was already locked for being flamebait.
Thanks for reading, and I hope that you will take my request into consideration.

We cannot ban threads simply because they discuss the culture, economic policies, foreign policy, et cetera of a particular nation; this would be particularly unfitting for a site devoted to political discussion.
We can and will, however, continue to warn people who would troll, flame, and flamebait on threads, and we will certainly continue to close threads that have become nothing more than a warzone of bad manners.

I would like to see stricter moderation of people who hijack threads with off-topic usa posts. For example a (hypothetical) thread about Finland shouldn't have three pages of usa discussion.
edit: also, this (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=389087) thread has a misleading name and the original post is general anti-us trolling.

You guys wouldn't be the first ones to complain about this. Nothing's changed yet...

I've reported these threads before but nothing happens to them

We do try to take care of them, honestly. However:
1)We are human.
2)YMMV. What offends some, may not be offensive to most.
3) ;) When we start banning and locking, shrieks of outrage deafen us...
4) When we don't ban and lock immediately, shrieks of outrage deafen us.
What's a poor forum mod to do? ;)

I've read some of the threads on there made by Americans about other nations and about the US. Three words come to mind: Suck it up.
If you don't like it, try to get the Americans to stop with other nations and the other nations to stop with the Americans. Also, try to limit the ego that all sides have. Which, considering General, isn't likely to happen without mod intervention. And Katganistan posted the mod view.

May I quote you on that, Kleptonis? :D
Ban and lock everything!
I was going to say 'delete everyone and have a well deserved holiday'.
Damn people beating me to my posts. And rewording them, no less.

Do your best.
Accept you can please some of the people some of the time.
When you leave the forum, leave the gunk behind, and enjoy life as it comes to you.

Besides, y'all do a wonderful job.

Look, there cant be so many rules of such a strict nature or it defeats the purpose of having an open forum. I agree on the trollling and flaming rules, but the hijacking threads complaints need to be taken a little severity. When you with a group of friends, hanging out, ordering pizza, and discussing certain topics, the subject changes briefly from time to time. Thats just the dynamics of conversation. It goes back to the original topic soon and no harm done. The Mods cant lock every thread every time someone goes of the subject for 45 seconds. They know when someone is really trying to take over a thread and it is usually very very rare.

2 things:
1) Clear rules.
2) Consistent enforcement.
1 is somewhat in place.
2 is not. Certain mods seem to be completely haphazard in their enforcement, to the point of ignoring the rules set out in the TOS. :(
Overall the moderation here is pretty good. Better than many places, not quite as good as a few. :)

Ban and lock everything!
Or we could all just face reality. we are all puppets of Max and he keeps us here arguing and such just for the amusement of the voices in his head.
Speaking as a Mod on another message board. ( So I have some idea of the difficulties they face )
A mod can't be online all the time, and time zones add to the effect. What may appear to be ignoring may simply be no mod online at that time.
And yes, it is ideal to have every flaming or baiting edited asap ( but that can't always happen ) and when they've been in place in the thread for hours what good does it do to remove them - in reality not much and just takes up a mod's time that they could be useing to review posts just made.
As far as topic wandering off track, any one can post a gentle and polite comment about getting back on track. We are able to do things for ourselves, especially if they are done in a civil and courteous way, without going to the mods.
Please remember that the mods here are volunteers and are doing a thankless job very well.
