Why was this general thread locked?

Why was the thread "The LIST" locked? http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=385648

It was a harmless conspiracy thread turned to RP. I think that if Paradise Club gets to stick around, The LIST should get to stay as well.

I don't know, since I'm not the one who locked it.

However, later on in that thread, people started roleplaying interrogating captured Moderators. Thus, it may have been locked for being (at least mildly) threatening.

Personally, I don't find it amusing.

I guess I can understand your point. I assume they meant it to be lighthearted. the entire thread was not serious. But if it seemed that way, I support the actions taken.

I don't believe it was written to amuse you.

I think that this means the mods are too serious and not capable of enjoying a lighthearted thread. This is bad to the image of NS mods: it portrays them as "mean snobs". The more people thinking that the mods are mean snobs, the more accusations of mod corruption/bias will arise, because some people will start to dislike the mods.

DISCLAIMER: I don't dislike the mods.

After speaking with a few other Moderators, we have decided that the thread should remain locked for two reasons: First, it is spam. Second, it is threatening to us.

Will the locker please stand up?
It is solely at the discretion of the Moderator responsible to decide whether or not he or she wants to publicly announce that he/she was the one who locked the thread.

No answer, to either question.
You now have an answer as to why it was locked. You will not get an answer as to who locked it.

I don't believe it was written to amuse you.
If you wish to get technical, then I'll admit that threads are not required to amuse me. However, my statement that the thread does not amuse me is a euphemism for "It is my official opinion that the locking of that thread is justified."

What would you say that it says about the image of posters who think that it is appropriate to post hideous photoshopped pictures and designate them as other players of the game, then roleplay tormenting them? We wouldn't tolerate anyone doing it to other players, why should anyone support other players doing it to us?

No, I didn't lock the thread, but I'm not sorry it was.

DISCLAIMER: I don't dislike posters, but I do dislike seeing myself and fellow mods treated as we are being treated by a minority of posters, and having people with an agenda justifying it.

That's really unnecessary, Sandpit. Your opinion is not required on every mod action.

But isn't that what the moderation forum is for?

No. It's for players to request help, either from other players if the matter is simple enough, or from moderators for bigger problems. The mod forum is so the mods can help you, not so you can annoy them.

To be fair to Sandpit, the "Moderation" board is also for asking questions or giving comments about NationStates Moderation policy.

In Post #8, Sandpit made a comment regarding NationStates Moderation policy. In Post #14, Katganistan posted an official refutation of that comment. The judgment stands, as per Post #14 by Katganistan.

I believing in giving the mods "constructive criticism", or since I'm into politics, in providing a "fair, sensible opposition". That being said, I don't "oppose for the sake of opposing". I will support or oppose the mods on a case-by-case basis.
