The eScrew spammer is back again. His/Her new nation is The Free Land of One Escrew. I reported this thru the getting help page several hours ago but I see the latest incarnation is still around. I appoligize if this is already being looked into, but this is the 3rd time the United States has been hit this week.

Kind sir, If I might invade this space with a quick question. Is the escrew thing a repeat incident? Our region has been spammed as well. Honestly, anything known of this demented individual? I really think the person is mentally unwell.

Two words.. IP Spoofer. Really though, before banning an entire range of IP addresses, would it not be more rational to just ignore escrew rather than prompt him to use alternate methods to create new nations. If he/she posts in your thread, ask a moderator to delete it. I am not sure if the mods have an option to revoke posting privledges but maybe that is an option?

Most people have neither the technical knowledge nor motivation to avoid an IP ban, thus they work relatively well.
I had to actually lift it because their ISP uses a caching proxy that is shared with other players. Thus, I have taken other (unspecified) actions to prevent them from further spamming the message boards. Please let me know if they return.
I actually thought that eScrew's posts were quite interesting and amusing, and I believe that he actually had his own region. Too bad he just had to go posting his posts everywhere, instead of simply in his regional CH.
Oh well.

Viktor Bychenok aka eScrew aka Strike is a computer programmer and can probably get past a IP ban with his eyes close. As for motivation, he is totally nuts. He is sort of famous. I know some stuff about him. He used to write articles for and post in f**kedcompany.com. eScrew.com used to be a site where people could complain about getting screwed by interent companies and then it kinda change when Viktor started going nuts.

Your solution, making e*screw a banned word, was ingenious. He'll get around it quite easily, but it was hilarious to hear him gripe about it. Thank you.
I've never found any real solution to spammers of his ilk, except to either encourage them to put more thought behind their posts, or to hope they get bored and go away. Just be glad DiamondGypsy hasn't heard of NationStates yet.
One thing I implemented that seemed to work very well was a choke collar - limit the spammer to X posts per day, and tighten or loosen in response to the quality of the posts. Perhaps that only worked because of the nature of my board, however.

deej still frequents my board, and by now she knows her obsession is playing here. he didn't even bother hiding his ID.
it'll be fun to see if the mods can find a pretext for banning her, other than the simple fact that she bugs the hell out of everyone she comes into contact with.
in the end, though, she's a moron. she always posts from the same ip, so the mods will have no problem blocking her.

Or they could arrange for all Traffic to Nationstates to be Routed through a Server in Virginia USA then when he spamms with his messages he falls under Virginia's anti spam laws.
