I posted this but magic seems to have removed it. Why would a post that violates NO rules be deleted?
Care to share?
I'll re-post in case it was just a glich!

Congrats. You just slipped up. Perfect people never claim to be perfect or make resolutions towards being perfect.
HAHA! You're imperfect!

Hehe DLE...maybe imperfect is a slightly over-exaggerated word to use...how about 'delicately flawed'? ;)
What is the "OPSPEC violation"?
"Operations Security" I assume.
Of course they can't tell you what it is, though...
But I can never understand what they mean when they say that something compromises the "security" of NationStates. Whenever they say that, I think of people hacking into NS, and I can never understand why a mere post or comment would allow that to happen.

Operational Security.
In other words, giving away Moddy secrets. Obviously, Rep can't tell you what it was because, well, that would be a violation ;)
I read her first post, it was something about she had no Avatar and nothing that said Retired Mod under her name. Also, she hinted that she had retired from modding because of some kind of personal relationships with other mods.

Can you tell us what will constitute a OPSEC violation? Like I said, it makes me think of something related to hacking or sabotage.

Certain information is kept secret by the NationStates and Jolt staff. Releasing information that isn't supposed to be released is a violation of Operational Security.
This is generally a rule that only a Moderator or Administrator can break. Players can't break OPSEC rules... usually because they don't have the information that isn't supposed to be released.

What type of information? Come on, I'm not asking for specifics here.

Well, you know how we use "more than just IPs" to catch UN multi's? Ever notice how we never say what those other methods are?
That sort of thing.

Ah, so it's basically "keeping the unwelcomed out", and making sure nothing compromises that, right?
Alrighty, I get it. Thanks.

It also covers questions such as "Is [violet] Max Barry? Is [violet] SalusaSecondus? Is [violet] Jennifer Barry? Is Max Barry SalusaSecondus? Is Max Barry Maxx Barry? Is Maxx Barry Jennifer Barry? Is SalusaSecondus Spartacus? Is Spartacus Scolopendra? Is Cogitation insane?" That sort of thing.

This would be on the most part correct. Of course unless the mods really tried to screw over one of their own who knew all the "mod secrets" and just got fed up of being treated like garabge and spilled evey thing they knew. However I'm sure this is very unlikely to happen, as the mods would never do this, nor do I believe any former mods would either given that the mods would never stab one of their own in the back!.

Actually, I thought that it would be fun if we investigated this (http://s6.invisionfree.com/PCRA_Central/index.php?showtopic=17). All in good humour, of course.
Hope you don't mind!!!

...surely the sorts of people likely to benefit from 'OpSec' information are able to find out all about that OpSec information on their own anyway...?

Hey, it's tough being a mod (or a former mod).
I always respected Steph, even though I always disagreed with her. (She seems to really hate the US for some reason.)
But at the end of the day, it's an internet forum - so it is petty. That's how the internet is. Look at general, if that was a true and accurate reflection of the world, Europe and Canada would be marxists states engaged in a medium hot war against the US and various alleged "satraps".
The reality is that the world in no way reflects nation states - whatsoever. The most comforting thing I find is that we all spend so much time on the internet there is no chance of us ever gaining any kind of meaningful power. (Thank God).
