Request for an II sticky

Could a mod please sticky my new thread "International School of Role-Playing"? Its an off-site thing designed to teach newbs how to RP. I want this stickied so that it can easily be seen as opposed to fading away. Please let me know what needs to be done to get it stickied. Thanks.

I'm not exactly sure if that's a qualifying thread for a sticky, I mean, when new people come into NS, I'm sure they aren't going to want to register for yet another forum just to learn how to RP. There are plenty of people here who are willing to RP with new people, within these forums. Maybe if you made a thread about specific people who are willing to do so, and how to get into contact with them, it would most certainly help.

I am trying to get people to help if you look.
I disagree with you. I think that too many newbs when they arrive the only learning RP is often an MT war RP. Therefore there aren't many character RP's around. I'm trying to increase the level of RPing in II. I mean, you can say "read the stickies" as much as you want, people go on NS for fun, not to read great long essays and rules & regulations. The best experience is on the job experience. The best way to learn is by RPing, not by reading a ton of material.

I don't think there's enough information to merit this as a Sticky; it seems to be merely an advertisement for your school.

What information would you like me to include in this exactly?
And yes.... it is an advertisement, what do you want? Me to start a forum inside a thread and have that stickied? The forum is offsite so that can't be stickied, therefore the ad for it should be.
I hear people daily complaining about the poor level of RPing in II, yet i'm actually doing something about it. Surely people should be thanking me for this? If this doesn't get stickied then people will continue to complain and do nothing about the level of RPing.

Tell you what, if I explain it better, and get some nations to participate as teachers, and maybe some pupils, would that help the chances of getting it stickied?

T-gram some people, or even make a separate thread about how you need people to become teachers, and list them in your original thread, and make separate categories of RP'ing, such as Terrorist RP's, War RP's, Diplomacy RP's and stuff like that.

I wouldn't mind helping you out, so if you'd like, I'd be ok with teaching others on Diplomacy.

Thanks Euroslavia, good plan. I was already planning to TG some people, but I can start a thread requesting teachers.

Well, then, start RPing with the people who are having trouble instead of actually starting a new forum. Your "predecessors" did the same thing without so much as a bat of the eye.

II and NS are already filled with stickies on the merits of role-play; all your so-called potential Sticky is is what you said: An advertisement. I don't know what you could do to add to it to make it "Sticky material," but I do not think an advertisement strictly to teach RPers off-site is merit for a Sticky.

If you just bump it everyday and make sure it stays on the front page, it'll have the same impact as a Sticky anyway.

Can I ask something? Did you even read my previous posts?

This will be an easier, and more fun way to learn to RP. Overall, it'll raise the level of II RPing, and will attract people. I can't see a downside to this.

Agreed. This will not be stickied.

It may qualify for addition to this (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=357975) sticky thread, but I have to talk to the Mods who are more involved in NationStates roleplay than I am.

I have to double-check with the other Mods, but if he goes bumping that thing every day in perpetuity, it probably qualifies as spam.

Well, I'm glad I stopped bumping my recruitment thread in Gameplay then. ;)

So Cog,
You're saying I CAN'T bump it,you won't sticky it.... what can I do to ensure it stays around? I see this as being very important to II RPing.

I know we allow regional recruitment ads in "Gameplay", but I forget what the rule is about bumping those topics. Whatever that rule is, I'm inclined to apply the same standard here.

Like I said before, I have to go double-check.

But this isn't exactly regional recruitment. I'll check again later on today, and if I see i'm also allowed to post this in Gameplay then I will. Thanks Cog.

In general, we don't sticky all the RP guides and RP learning centers individually, but it's the sort of thing we add links to in the other stickies.

For off-site forums, it would probably be more convenient to link directly to them or your contact information than to a thread doing the same, in one of the other stickies.

No, it's not, but it's still a type of recruitment.

What about bumping advertisement threads like this one?

I run something like what Sanctaphrax has (it's an offisite storefront hosting service) and I have an advert thread in I.I. that I bump once or twice a day. Is that spam since it's perpetually bumped without replies, even though it's directing people to something fairly useful?

And also, can you put my link in an existing sticky then? It's a SF host that currently has 14 modern SFs and 2 FT SFs in addition to a discussion forum and some RP forums. I'll post the link if you'd like me to.
