Which would the Mods prefer

Let's say a topic has been posted many months ago, had the RP/Discussion it was meant to start (Depending on where it was posted), and then faded to the back of the forums like it's supposed to. If the original poster wanted to start that RP/Discussion all over again would you prefer if he posted an entirely new thread, or would you rather he did a bit of gravedigging and found that old thread?

I can never understand the rule against "gravedigging". NS seems to be the only forum with such a rule: most other forums would rather have you posting in a very old thread than start a new one on exactly the same topic. Having mutiple threads on the same topic will clog the forums up as much as any "spam".

There's a rule against gravedigging on NS?
Didn't know...why?

We don't mind.

How Cog sees it:
Klonor: "Do you prefer this or that?"
Sirocco: "Yes."

/me snickers.

Okay, a little more seriously, now...

What (I think) Sirocco means is that it doesn't make a big difference. We don't mind gravedigging as long as it's on-topic and you have something new, significant, and on-topic to contribute to the thread, and it continues the previous discussion. If it meets those criteria, then you cound go either way: Make a new thread or post to the old one.

Your use of the words "If the original poster wanted to start that RP/Discussion all over again..." is slightly confusing. What, exactly, do you have in mind?

I don't actually have a specific instance in mind, the question stems from me gravedigging yesterday and just wondering if it would have been better to have just re-posted it (It was a thread in General) rather than bumping it with a single period.
