Though it is against my principles to post here.

My Friend Alansyst has opened a thread advertising a forum.

http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=377340

It is a blatant attempt to get ip's. Please delete it.

C'mon people. This is a security breach.

The (NS) Mods have a policy. As long as it is not within the boundaries of Nationstates or the NS areas of the Jolt Forum, it is none of their business. Nor, since this isn't even remotely NS related (eg third party software or similar), they can't even issue warnings even if they wanted to, nor can they police this.

EDIT: The NS Mods have no jurisdiction or policing powers on anything outside of Nationstates or the Forums. This person you speak of is wholly within his right to advertise, so long as it does not violate the site's rules.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that's how things are.

Actually, not too sure whether the mods crack down on other forums being advertised [not including regional forums]

I understand that they can do nothing outside the scope of the forum itself. I just think the thread should be deleted so people don't sign up. That is all.

Well don't say you weren't warned.

When it comes down, you were given the intelligence.

When it comes down to it, all that has been made is public accusations that really aren't for the Moderation forum, rather for the Getting Help page. Nevertheless, there's nothing the NS moderators can do and getting IP addresses isn't illegal anyway.

Well I put a warning on his thread too. But this one has the potential to go all pear shaped.

Actually, I think Moderation Staff can delete and lock, etc, what they see fit on Nation States Forums. If they decide they feel the link is not safe for any reason they are well within their power to remove the link.

Might I add, reading the " A new forum and promising arcade/nation sim/mmorpg is in production. " line, I could point out Nation States is not some kind of bill-board bitch for every Marketing-Jockey-Wanna-Be on the net. Considering this is technically " competition " on Nation States " turf " the Game Staff are well within their legal and natural rights as an online entity to delete the lnik / not allow posting of this sort.

Also since it sounds very similar to Nation States there is the remote possibility it could be used to lift pass-words and account names. Not every-one is scam-wise or net-savvy enough to use different I.D. data for online accounts.

* I also recall that fool spamming up region H.Q. boards with ads for his web site game etc. And he certainly got dealt with.

Not to mention the fact that Alansyists is Delete on Sight. Gone.

Not exactly. If we were (for some unknown reason) cruising around in Jolt's Spam forum, and we saw, say, a goatse pic, we could act to remove the post. We have power and authority in Jolt's non-NS forums, we just usually don't exercise it, as Jolt has a different SOP.

I've also waded into Jolt's forums to do some moderation when one of our serial spammers decided to go and mess up Jolt's forums.
