DoM (Another Thread)

The following thread is yet another discussion of the DoM, currently before open vote in the UN.

Also, and pardon my ignorance, is the language and tone of the posts within this thread breaking any rules besides the one of having multiple threads on the same subject?

Umm... the topic in question was deleted as opposed to just being locked.

I take it that it was considered a bit flammatory then?
I really just wanted to know if I could recognize where the line is on some things. I try so hard not to start fights, I dont realize where and when they are over it.

There actually are a lot of spin-offs in the UN based on the definition of marriage (in part due to the previous resolution too), and the mods seem to be sweeping through every few hours. Basically every bigot with access to a keyboard kinda views the UN forum to be his / her place to make a stand.

In one case, I personally think there is a player that should maybe get a warning for textbook trolling:

On the flip side, I've been reading the threads, but trying to avoid joining in the flame fest ... I'm chalking most of what we are seeing to coming from people who really don't feel like they have control of their lives so instead they just lash out at anything in reach, probably actually wanting a bit of attention -- negative or positive, it seems to matter not.

Anyway, I wanted to chime in and say that I'm actually happy with the moderation decisions this week. As a team, you've all been fast to respond, and you've done a pretty good job at tempering things down while leaving enough room for those whom wish to have a less hostile discussion to continue to do so. It is appreciated. (Though I still think the lot of ya are brutal and cruel and dark -- sadists, every last one of you ... but now I think many of you have a masocinist {sp?} thing at work too, to spend this much time here.) ;)

My initial question still stands.

I see the terms thrown about, but have trouble sometimes telling the difference between them.

I saw the thread before it was deleted, and just wanted someone to clarify which (if any) of the terms it was. I have to assume that since it was deleted, it was innapropriate.

But its not important enough to know exactly how the posters were breaking the rules. Its just that while I can read the tones of some threads and tell they are deliberately hostile, I dont always know when they are and are not acceptable.
