Passworded Region/Dead Delegate

I'm sure this has come up many times, so I apologize, but...
If a region is passworded and the delegate dies (with only one remaining UN nation inside the region) what happens?
Is the region locked forever?
In this particular region (three nations) it hasn't been completely established (inactive nations) that no one knows the PW, but it seems most probable. (For what it's worth in this region the delegate was asked many times - as advertised in the Factbook - for the PW, but never replied.)
Do the active nations have to move out and refound for the PW to be removed?
If it comes down to only one nation who does not know the PW can the mods remove the password? Or is it refounding...?
Thanks,

As far as I'm aware, leave, let the region die (when the UN/game next updates) and re-Found it again. I think that's what the mods will say, but I'm not a Mod. Does this help? It's pretty logical anyway.

Refounding is the best way to go.
I thought once the founder died that delegate access became automatic ... ah, only one U.N. nation ? Well, maybe exit then wait for region death and re-found may be best.

Except that means waiting perhaps a month plus for the inactive nations to die off - assuming they are teminally inactive.
Judging from the die-off pattern in the region, one of the two inactive nations will be gone within the week, but the other... who knows.
Don't passwords ever expire?

Password's don't expire, and mods don't remove passwords unless the region has been griefed.
You have two options, either move everyone out and re-found it, OR endorse a new UN Delegate from the nations that are left. If there is no founder, then the UN Delegate should have regional controls.

There's only one UN nation in the region, and because the region is passworded no more can enter. Thus a delegate is impossible.
Two of the three nations in the region are inactive. One (the UN nation) will probably expire soon. But if the other is on vacation mode (and terminal), that means waiting up to a month for refounding...
It's also not a "private" region, like "Johns Own Planet".
Its an old region, pre founder, with a worthy name. And it has been passworded for months under suspect circumstances -- passworded by a band of UN nations who arrived at the same time, and are now dying off at the same time, the remaining UN member being one of them...
It's not important, I guess, in the wider scope of things, just seems a shame.

Without out knowing of the region, I cannot truly analyze the particular situation for certain. Nevertheless, from what you have provided Armed Love, I have an idea.
If there are at least three non-UN nations in the region that could somehow gain UN status, then two of the three could vote for the third. Thus you could out-vote the remaining delegate -- and with the UN update gain access to the Regional Controls.
Just make sure not to become a UN multi.
In my experience, switching UN status from one nation to another takes just 24 hours.
I hope this idea can work for you. It would be the quickest way in my opinion to lift the password protection on a region.

I think your best bet is to contact a defender group and ask for two of them to come in, and to endorse each other so one becomes delegate and removes the password before moving out. This could all be done in one day by moving in before the the update and out after.

Unfortunately I think that's the whole point of their problem. Since they're passworded nobody can come in.
As others have voiced, either refound it, or have another of the nations already inside there get UN and make an active person delegate. But from what it looks like....you're outta luck.
