Er... Same IP address?

Okay, well I'm an admin of a regional forum and a few days ago a new member signed up and they appear to have the exact same IP address as me. Firstly, I'm unsure how this can be possible, since I believed that every IP address was unique. (I use AOL if that helps at all) I'm also worried that, being a newbie, they'll ignore my "Don't join the UN" warnings and join, leaving me up the creek without a paddle.

I'm not looking for ways around this, even though it's infinitely annoying, but I want to know how this could happen, and if there could be a flaw with my forum's registration of IP address.

AOL..... AOHell uses randomized IP's I think. Not sure how it works. But, yes, it's AOL's problem.

AOL route multiple users through single proxy servers, meaning one IP can be shared between many users. We have other methods of checking for multiple UN nations, not just IP addresses.
