Modlings, et alia [Split topic]

"Modling" is a specific type of position on the NationStates Staff. SalusaSecondus used to be a Tech Modling (and, in fact, was the only Modling of any kind in the history of NationStates). There are no Modlings, at present.

A minor point, but I don't want the term being abused or double-defined.

Also not to be confused with "modabe" which has a different meaning altogether.

Out of curiousity, where did that term come from?

Probably from the tendency to call a little or lesser version of something "-ling". Zergling, Modling, etc.

... Not that I'm comparing the mod team to the Zerg, of course. ;)

... Kipling? Keats? ... no, it was Robert Frost, of course.

Two codes diverged in a website fair,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one Modling, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in four-oh-four;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was sleek and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In code no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two codes diverged in a page, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

So we could call moderation groupies ... moditos? ;)

Modarazzi. Technitos. AccomModators. CaTechismists. ModdoƱa. SpasModics. TechNiques.

Plenty more where those came from.

They could be "Models". Except then they'd have to stop eating :(

Me like eat.

Not related to the complaint at hand. Hence, iSplit.

Hmmm...since we call the followers of Christ "Christians," would we not call followers of Mods "Modians"? Those who are addicted to alcohol are called alcoholics, so...Modics?

mod-wanna-be

That would be the root form of modabe.

My government is offended by the idea that modics are all followers of the "Mods". You are assuming that we come here to worship the mods, when in fact in Mikitivity they are considered "Brutal, Cruel, and Dark". Children are raised to fear and oppose the ancient evil ones.

If anything if you want to have Modians running around, then it is only fair that Modists, followers of the Anti-Mod, should be recognized as well as a NationStates "cult" as well. :p

Well, it's my belief that the Moderators are the Prophets of the One True [violet] - I'm more of a Violetist.

You're not one of those human-sacrificing Violent Violetists, are you?

No, I'm a nice Reformed Violetist. I only sacrifice griefers and spammers. ;P

Ah, one of the older of the Modish religions ... do your people refuse to eat pork and never shave the sides of their heads too? The problem with the Modish faiths: b.o.r.i.n.g.

Everybody knows that the Modists, with our ritual ... er "parties" are the real rage of NationStates. Far better than the Modians and their Modian Rock and Modian IRC Ministries, or the Modmic's and their need to face Australia and worship everyday around the time of the server update!

Some prefer, especially in the summer months, to follow the antireligion of Im-Modist.

In related news, June bikini sales are up 20%.
