Please clarify flaming
I have read the definition of flaming over and over, but I am still confused as to its exact application. If you will note this moderation thread
http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=373142
you will see that Steph issued a warning for a post that crudely criticized a candidate, but did nothing about Neo Alansyism saying "And I hope all of their children die in Iraq" about republican voters. Maybe it's comparing apples and oranges, but I'm much more offended by a death wish than a crude comment directed at Kerry. Is there a point to the definition of flaming that I am missing that would have required Steph to ignore this?
Also, unless I'm suffering another of those senior moments, didn't I see a moderation thread on which Alansysism and all of his puppets were permanently banned earlier this week specifically for this type post?

That probably means that s/he had done enough offensive posting to merit a DOS account. A single flaming post will not make the mods delete you.
Flaming has, at times, been a little awkward. It was my non-moddy understanding that:
If you were aiming offensive posts at another player of the game, it was flaming.
You could post offensive messages at a specific real-life person, such as Bush or Kerry, as there is no verifiable proof that they do or do not play NS.
Unless they are death threats.
There was very little tolerance of flaming following the elections.
Posting anything like "All (insert group here) are (insert offensive term here)" is flame-bait.
However, these guidelines can occasionally vary with the case, and may not be 100% mod guidelines. But I hope that does help a little in the meantime.

Ah, sorry Zooke I was only responding to this complaint.

By the time you had posted I had already left the computer.
Actually this makes a really good case for people posting the thread when they complain instead of just posting one post. I was in a bit of a hurry to feed my family dinner and didn't look the whole thread over.

I can relate to that. It probably took me several minutes to get my post finished. I have a tendancy to multi-task all over the house and pop on here when I go by. At the time I thought you were still on and tried to take a shortcut by using the same thread. For my own curiosity, wasn't Alansysism permanently banned or was that someone else? I believe I was following the moderation on that on Wednesday, maybe Tuesday.

If he is it wasn't done by me. You could always post a thread here in mod asking and if another mod knows they can answer. For the time being, I will now that I have a minute go look at the thread and issue him a warning as well. Just so you know, the warning I did issue to the other dude wasn't an official warning , as in I didn't tag his nation or any thing. I'll do the same here.
Like I said, if I was you I'd start a new thread asking if he's suppose to be banned. I personally am unaware of any such order, probably only because I didn't take care of the case in question and or it's not the same guy you're thinking about, I really don't know.
