If this is trolling then feel free to lock it. I'm not sure if it is, and I really wanted to post it. I just have to post something when a great idea comes to mind. But if it's innapropriate i'm posting it here so I dont get IP banned, since i'm out of warnings.

Personally I think it shouldnt have been locked. But then again, I dont really have a clear idea what trolling is. Or was it locked because it's was deemed spam?

Trolling is basically offensive spamming. That was kind of between trolling and spamming, by my view. Just don't do it again.

Well that's why I posted a link here also, just to be safe, since I wasnt sure. Thanks for the info.

Trolling is actually a term for provocation, meaning you're deliberately saying something which will illicit flaming and other nasty messages which are against the rules.

Yeah... Here's the mod's definition:

Posts that are made with the aim of angering people. (like 'ALL JEWS ARE [insert vile comment here]' for example). Also is used to refer to making obviously silly topics that people nonetheless will reply to. (making a case for the proof that teletubbies exist for instance. There will always be someone who feels compelled to post 'No they don't.' Threads like this should just be ignored.)

I wondered when I read that... It sounded as though you thought it could stay open, Myrth.

Could you find out who it was and why? Cause I seriously dont think that should be locked. Do you?

Trolling is basically offensive spamming.

Trolling is posting in a thread something that has nothing to do with the topic of the thread. Yes, it may be spam, but it might also just be something so far off base, and yet not spam, that it just doesn't belong within a given thread.

Not true. I got warned a couple days ago for trolling in a thread that I started.

You can troll in a thread you started.

According to the mod's definition (Given above), it is possible to troll your own threads.

Interesting.

I thought there were exceptions, such as not allowing players to create threads for the purpose of trolling.

I know you're not allowed to post threads inticing others to troll (since yesterday - Cog was quite flustered), but I'm not aware of any exceptions...

You can troll in a thread you started.

The first post of the topic was considered trolling. According to your def. of trolling, that doesnt fit. But according to the mod's def. it was.

No, that's hijacking a thread. Trolling is posting in order to provoke either flames in response or stupid/banal answers to simple questions.

Actually, the easiest way to troll is to start a thread. Yes, that's right. The easiest way to troll is to start a thread.

Something like: All (insert a group/type) are all (insert something which is blatantly absurd)

It is blatantly absurd, I know, but starting a thread in this manner is the easiest way to troll (and counts for most of the trolling).

If you're in doubt, don't post at all. If you feel like replying, take a deep breath and look at it from all angles instead of venting your spleen.

Hey, I got that out of Sirocco's Glossary of Forbidden Actions - I didn't say that.

Incidentally, this thread was hijacked just a moment ago...
