I don't know who locked your thread, but I'm betting it was justified. All flame/flamebait threads are locked, regardless of which political opinion they espouse.
No one gets warned for simply inquiring about moderator action in a civil manner, UpwardThrust.

Ladies and gentleman, thank you for trying the classic tactic of deflecting the issue to make yourselves seem the wronged party.
Flaming is not allowed. It is in the FAQ and the Terms and Conditions you ticked off before joining. Flamebait is also not allowed: see the FAQ and Terms and Conditions.
If persons feel the need to go out of their way to insult others, act uncivilly, and goad others in order to provoke a reaction, there is no difference between whether they are Democrat, Republican, Orc or Jedi. Such threads will be closed down, and if people feel the need to open new threads in order to continue said prohibited behaviors, expect warnings and other actions to follow -- just as if it were any other day, and any other topic.

If however, you can manage to frame and discuss controversial issues civilly, guess what? Your threads will not be locked.
