It's good really, because it means that people are learning about others' points of view, rather than just arguing about issues as usual.

Maybe Myrth is secretly John Kerry?

Remember when Myrth posted about no more 'Ask A' threads?

Well now, he's leaving them alone!

at least these threads are interesting and fun!

if you want to see another Bush vs. Kerry thread or IM GAY AND PROUD, then make 1. survival of the fittest!

'ask a' threads are educational, non-spam (although, i have to admit that some arnt very productive) and interesting/fun!

ahhh, what are you saying??? are you insane? why would you want him here, if you want to talk about something different... just make a new topic. too much mod intervention stifles free thought and what the majority wants. its obvious that the majority likes 'ask a' threads, so why deny them?

If the majority doesnt like 'ask a' threads, then the threads will eventually die down and the same old boring politico threads will pop up again.

Let NS decide.

lol... the "majority" of NS? I somehow doubt that.

If someone has a question, they should just post that question instead of asking it of someone propping themselves up as an authority.

But I think it's a Jewish conspiracy. If I remember correctly it all startet with the Ask a Jew thread.

why? and yes, if MORE people are participating in 'ask a' threads, then that means its a MAJORITY.

and why dont u think that 'ask a' threads are legit? they are just as good a way to learn about say... anarchism then any other thread. it just puts it into a different format then your normal politico thread.

and lemme guess.... you plan on being a mod in the next year or so?

I don't think all the "Ask a" threads are bad, but when people start putting them up "because everyone else is doing it" it's gone a bit far.

And personally, I'd prefer to discuss specific points vs. a general categorization.

And the mod thing... hell no. :p Dealing with all this crap would be too much for me while simultaneously working.

look man, i dont have anything against you... and yes, its your personal right to post what you feel like - like normal political threads... its just that when you start infringing on others rights to post what they personally feel... then its no good. I think the 'ask a' threads are cool, and i found myself arguing more political then i have for ages.

but i agree that some are a bit overdone ('ask a tard or idiot'???) but i cant really blame them considering that ive done worse.... lol.

Maybe that's what Kerry was writing down during the debate. Stuff to post and what not. He was probably writing a note to ban "ask a" threads. :)

Hey, let's not forget that my "Ask a Jew!" thread was a spin-off of the "Ask a Latter-Day Saint!" thread! I am just as much of a copy-cat as everybody else here!

But many of the starting ones aren't really posting anything they feel. They put a title up and ask, "any questions?"

Yes, it's personal irritation partly. Every thread should have a post that asks how that person is qualified to speak for whatever they say they speak for.

oh, and girl actually. ;) although it ruins the "look man" thing :p

ok hon, i didnt mean to question your gender... so If the 'ask a' threads were better organized and stated, then you would like, maybe even participate in them? ok.

(i have a problem with saying dude, bro, and man too much- dont get me started... whenever i try to say chick or chica, chicks get pissed off at me!

It's okay dear. ;)

so If the 'ask a' threads were better organized and stated, then you would like, maybe even participate in them? ok.

Well... it would depend on the "ask a" thread. I don't have questions I really want answered by some groups. But others I would ask questions of. But I'm not going to ask a random question of someone that I don't know and trust the opinion of.

Example is the 2 Catholic threads. Who says 1 person is a better authority than the other? How am I supposed to judge?

At least when someone poses a question as the basis of a thread, they can get answers from anybody, not just people that happen to peer in at that thread.

 Is that a threat? when were you made a Moderator? Anyways, 'ask a' threads arnt anti-myrth or pro-spam, so what are you talking about?
btw, im not anti-anybody- i just think the mods are doing a fairly ok job, they are just too harsh in many ways. At least im not pro-flame/troll.

so...

I agree that it depends on the 'ask a' thread, i mean... I actually learned a lot about Anarchism in the 'ask an anarchist' thread. Same with 'ask an agnostic', and 'ask a jew', etc...

i dunno, i think its an interesting new way to teach, learn, and debate.

Then please explain why my thread "ask another Israeli" got locked?
It got 29 posts in less than 24 hours, I made it clear that any racist or spam question would be ignored and there was NO SPAM. Why then did it get locked?
Did I upset Myrth or Unfree People at some point without knowing it?

That wasn't either Myrth or me. It was, however, probably because it was a duplicate of an existing "Ask an Isreali" thread. I'll ask the moderator responsible about it... if I get the chance.
