Impostor!

Unelion

The nation Unellion has copied my name and motto, as well as flag, may s/he do that? s/he is an invader and it can be easy to confuse whit me (I guess that is the idea)

I will send a massage about this in the getting help page, but does someone knows if the mods will do something about it?

Or is it ok to just copy another nation?
I may ad that nation has tried to invade a region whit close ties to the region where I am delegate.

I believe that as long as the nations do not pose as another, and act like the other, it is fine, which obviously isnt the case here. I'd wait for a mod though.

Trying to confuse players/slander them with lookalike puppets is not tolerated. Parodies are fine, similiarly named nations are fine, but not carbon-copying a nation to cause confusion.

The imposter has been dealt with.

I understand what's going on here, but I don't understand why he had to be deleted? Exactly wat rules did s/he brake? Was s/he actually active as imposter? I though that nation was in the RR, just being quiet.
Really, I'm not understanding any of this. I know it's childish to impose someone, but sometimes it's very hard to find a nice name, and in that case you simply take the second best thing. Somehow I get the feeling that this game is slowly being choked to death. :(

What were his/her activities, that triggered his/her deletion?

Thanks!

Carinthe, S/he had not only copied my name, but also my flag and my motto (and being that the motto is about a region s/he never have been in that is strange)

Strange and childish, but easily changable. Not a major offence IMHO. Deletion is no solution to everything. Mottos, flags, animals and currencies can easily be changed. Do you realize that you are actually happy that someone's nation got deleted? He was just hanging around in the RR. Probably ejected while trying to enter a region with his UN membership, got branded as invader and is ejected. I see paranoia getting stronger and stronger in this game. Someone has to stop this!

The reason paranoia is so high is because of events like the griefing of Scroll Islands taking place, the UN bug, etc. etc. etc. Everyone has a right to be paranoid; the mods took what they thought was the best action, so, deal with it.

She's right! Eject all paranoids! We must preserve the game for only those players without abberant mental processes!

Good point Carinthe. People are just really paranoid on this game. You would almost think there were hundreds and hundreds of players trying to spy and take over regions underhandedly the way they are so afraid. It's almost like they think some players are out to ruin their reputations and deprive them of power the way these people are so paranoid. Maybe they even think that there are huge organizations within the game that could crush a few small players with no problem. Ridiculous, huh?

...what LEGITIMATE reason would one have to copy a nation's name, and its flag, and its motto, and its animal and currency exactly, EXCEPT to cause confusion?

Considering the activity going on in the RR at present, I have a sneaking suspicion that the entire reason for such an homage would be to deflect blame to another party.

I have no idea what reason that person could have. Have you noticed that he wasn't swapping? I think he didn't even knew what activities were going on there.
In RL (I know that RL has very little to do with the game) people copy other people all the time. I know a teacher, who I really idolize. I hope that some day I'll be just like her. When I was little, I dressed, and tried to look 100% like my favourite artist. I saw Unellion hanging around in the RR, but never got any message from him. I think that he never endorsed me, and I am quite sure that he wasn't swapping, since I know allot of what's going on there, and who has how many endorsements. I have nothing to do with this player, but he shouldn't have been deleted, just for trying to be Unelion. Someone wanted to be just like Unelion. Big deal :p

Imitating someone as a form of sincere flattery is fine as long as it's clear that you are NOT the person you are imitating.

The nation in question was deleted for trying to pass itself off as "Unelion". Copying the motto, animal, currency, and flag exactly while using a similar national name is considered an attempt to pass yourself off as someone else.

Imitating your teacher or your favorite artist because you idolize them is one thing (as long as you keep it clear that you are not the person you're imitating). Pretending to be your teacher or your favorite artist is something entirely different.

Yeah, now I think of it. If I actually pretended to be Gwen, I would have been a permanent inhabitant of the funny farm right now :p

'Cause I'm just a girl,
I'd rather not be
'Cause they won't let me drive
Late at night
I'm just a girl,
Guess I'm some kind of freak
'Cause they all sit and stare
With their eyes
I'm just a girl,
Take a good look at me
Just your typical prototype
Oh... I've had it up to here!
Oh... am I making myself clear?

As I said in the beginning, that nation also happened to have tried to invade another region (whit close ties to the one I am delegate in) for just some weeks ago, and I now that for fact, so s/he was not just hanging around.
And as I heard s/he tried to invade another region for not so long ago.
Now, why would someone who wants to be like me, try to invade a region whit ties to mine?

Someone really has to define the word "invader" to me. All I have learned is: He who goes in first, is an invader. That is all there is, unless someone can explain that invading" is a terrible offence, and should be erracidated.
You're not gonna convince me that s/he has done something terribly wrong, but I think it lies in the combination of things. I stress: "Invading is nothing but but the move of one UN nation to another region." That is is not an offence. Some people even call non-UN members moving to another region, "invaders". I still find the punishment to harsh, but okay, that is just my point of view.

The nation in question was in the process of aiding in invading Cuba when the deletion occurred. Since Unelion had ties there, the goal to impersonate the player for the purpose of causing confusion is clear.

Hmm, no, the defenders ended up saving the region and restored the native delegate to power. There was talk about a griefing, but they didn't even have the opportunity to try.

Irrelevant. It could have been an otherwise-legal invasion; this individual was trying to implicate Unelion in an action that he did not committ. This kind of impersonation is strictly illegal.

Darn, it was just beginning to make sense.

I had many lookalikes running around in this game, and they all ceased to exist on the long run. I never bothered to report them. What is the point of letting a lookalike nation exist, if it can't be used for any action ever? Every action would reflect on the copied nation anyway. Why not ban nation copying completely?
Forget about it. I think it's beyond my comprehension

I always thought that impostors only got deleted if they used that copy to defame someone.

Just existing in this game as a lookalike is defaming someone.

In RL, when one wants to be someone, it's very easy to discern that someone is not that person, however, over the internet, it's not eay to discern that, hence, why the mods regulate it.

Eject all paranoids
I hope that that was a joke. I do think that people are getting paranoid though and I think that the copying player should not be deleted, just warned and forced to change his/her motto, name, and flag.

Point of information: Nation names cannot be changed; hence obscene names or imposters are deleted.
