i know, i know getting help page, blah blah blah..
i'm not reporting this (yet) just asking for a mods opinion (although experienced player comments are welcomed too, and ballo, got a bit recent xml for me, please? ;))

now, ireland seems to have a new delegate, and someone asks me on aim if this is an invasion and if he's breaking the rules (he claims the new delegate hasn't given out the password, and that he won't allow the old delegate, victories in the region)

so i start checking out the recent xml:

If a native can call in ADN invader assistance, then a Native who seeks to kick out the previous delegate can call in assistance of whom ever he wants IMO, that and wasnt ht previous delegate one the ADN controlled? left over from the Invasion you guys did.

First of all, the Northern Ireland situation is horrifically messy as it spans a long, long time of fighting between Irish and British players. The last major events were a succesful invasion by Ireland (led by now DOS Prodigal Fenian) in late March, which was undone by (mainly) the ADN after mods deleted the invader lead, and a failed invasion by Ireland on May 22 which was countered by defenders.


Info about some of the bolded names above:

Nation "The Dreadfort" started off as the founder of region "The Seven Kingdoms". (mid June)
Then moved to region "Northern Ireland 2" (late June/early July), a region created by the (now banned from Northern Ireland)
Victories in response to an invasion of "Northern Ireland" by members of the region "Ireland".
It sat there until five days ago, when he moved to "Northern Ireland":
5 days ago: The Kingdom of The Dreadfort departed this region for Northern Ireland

Nation "Daltwood" starts off in region "England" (early May), and soon after proceeds to region "Northern Ireland 2".
Daltwood stayed there until moving to "Northern Ireland" recently (no exact date known to me).

Nation "Georgie Best" started off in "Northern Ireland 2" and moved to "Northern Ireland".

Nation "Street Fighting Men" shows up in region "Federal Commonwealth Society" (a British Commonwealth themed region) on May 29. After that it's in "Northern Ireland".

I have no historical data for either Will Scarlett or Benfields, they're too young.
A now dead nation called "willscarlets" does show up to have resided in "Northern Ireland 2" priorly (May 29), which may or may not be related.

There is one thing that I find striking though... these nations start appearing less than a week after the last failed invasion by Ireland. A check on who owns what nations should be able to determine whether or not these are puppets controlled by region Ireland members, and which nations have Native status. After that it's a determination of delegate status: internally elected or not? The rather recent addition of those last three endorsers does raise questions.

This is likely to be unpopular, but here's my ruling after quite a bit of digging.

First of all, 'georgie_best' being deleted is completely and utterly unrelated to recent events. In the course of the investigation, I discovered that he was an incarnation of 'eire_shamrock', a DOS nation. Pretty cut and dry, really.

Now, on to the far more complicated bit.

The XML feed alone wasn't enough to tell if this was an internally elected delegate with good timing, or an invader. However, a deeper investigation revealed that this appears to have been a purposefully orchestrated invasion. The nations in question, 'will_scarlet', 'daltwood', 'street_fighting_men', and 'the_dreadfort' all appear to have eased (or scammed, if you prefer) their way in with the intent to seize the Delegateship. (For what it's worth, 'georgie_best' was also involved in this, but as noted above, he's already been deleted.)

Evidence points to their plan being to befriend 'victories' to gain access to 'northern_ireland' and to endorce him, so show that they were friendly. On a predetermined date (on or around August 31st), they were to unendorce 'victories' and endorce each other; vote-swapping their way into the Delegateship.

Since this is an invasion, invader rules apply. Therefore, banning natives without unbanning them, and failure to distribute the password constitutes griefing.

However, since the evidence isn't as conclusive as we normally prefer, I will only be ejecting the nations in question from the UN and not deleting them.
