These views are extremely racist and shouldn't be allowed on NS.
I hope you will reach the same conclusion that I did. CM should be banned.
people are allowed to have whatever views they want, however it's the way he expresses those views that annoy me. At the least lock this thread.

You can have a character in your RP say 9/11 was good, if say the character is a member of a radical muslim group.

Joseph Mladic is the party propaganda minister for the Revolutionary Right Party, he has a long record of this. What do you expect him to say? "Let's all hold hands and sing Kumbayah."

Trolling: Posts that are made with the aim of angering people. (like 'ALL JEWS ARE [insert vile comment here]' for example). Also is used to refer to making obviously silly topics that people nonetheless will reply to. (making a case for the proof that teletubbies exist for instance. There will always be someone who feels compelled to post 'No they don't.' Threads like this should just be ignored.)

I think most people will notice my OOC remarks are in General and my IC RP content is in International Incidents, where IC RP belongs. I keep different contents in differents places, where it belongs.

That's true about CM, but his IC content, to be fair, is pretty much off limits.

You /could/ come in (OOC) and yell and debate at him regarding his IC stuff, but that's extremely poor form, and does nothing but sate him. It might even get you banned.

Bottom line is, you aren't going to get an apology out of him, and you certainly won't get him banned.

(I, on the other hand, will gladly apologize for most of the things I say and have said, as they are usually hotheaded exaggerations of personal opinions tarnished by temporary emotions.)

So what is the deal here, are people trying to say only Anti-racists can RP as a racist nation?

I mean how about only anti-communists can RP as communist nations, to make sure nobody has IC and OOC views that match...

First, all roleplays are "make-believe". In a roleplay, all "people" speaking are fictional entities, characters written by their authors: the players of NationStates. Fictional characters may be written to espouse any opinion or spew any bile, as long as it is understood that it is all roleplay, all "make-believe". The authors may have their fictional characters throw as much personal abuse at each other as they please, as long as it actually advances the story and is understood to be only a story.

Second, real-life debates about racism are allowed in "General". However, those holding a racist viewpoint are required to remain civil towards other NationStates players at all times (and all other NationStates players are, in turn, required to remain civil towards them). No personal abuse whatsoever is allowed. Corollary: No NationStates player may post material intended to provoke a reaction of personal abuse from another player; such provokation is trolling.

Viewed independently, these are clear-cut cases. However, Communist Mississippis stated views In-Character happen to match his stated view Out-Of-Character. The resulting complication here is that we seem to have an implied accusation that CM is attempting to exploit a loophole in the forum rules by using roleplay as a means of circumventing the "No trolling" rule very strictly observed in "General".

I will have to discuss this matter with the other Moderators before making an official ruling. My preliminary opinion, however, is as follows:

I am inclined to reject the implied accusation (stated above) with the following notion: Just as an intelligent NationStates player with a non-racist viewpoint can debate CM directly in "General", such a NationStates player can roleplay another fictional character who can keep his/her cool, and counter "Joseph Mladic's" propoganda and trolling point-by-point.

However, this is not a complete logical argument. Just because NationStates players can counter trolling, either IC or OOC, does not mean that OOC trolling should be allowed by NationStates rules.

I am also inclined to reject the implied accusation with the notion that the purposes of the roleplay boards and the "General" board are quite different: the roleplay boards exist to facilitate roleplay. The "General" board exists to facilitate the civil discussion of subects not related to NationStates. If you're going to advance a particular real-life political agenda, you're not going to accomplish much on a roleplay board.

Again, this is only my preliminary opinion and requires further contemplation. Thus, for the time being, this topic and the linked topic shall remain locked.

I hope to have this resolved soon, but can make no guarantees.
