Unless the mods already got to it... those look like flames, not signatures, because there's no line dividing the post from the signature.

I agree, either way both are unexceptable, it doesn't matter where they said that, just that they did.

While I'm not too clear on this point, myself, I think that swearing per se is allowed on the Jolt forums*. It's directed swearing that constitutes flaming.

Note that the linked topic is a discussion about how debates tend to degrade into flamewars.

this is inevitably how internet debates go sometimes. its easy for some people to hide behind their computers and attack someone they disagree with. there's no way half this stuff would be said if we were all sitting in the same room having these very same arguments.

pig fucker.
I knew I was right. I know and see all.

Assholes.
Note how those posts seem to use swearing in a humorous manner; they're parodying the very problem they're talking about. Since those comments don't appear to be posted in seriousness, it's just swearing, not flaming. It's the kind of thing that I'd censure my brothers for, but I don't think that it's a violation of NationStates rules.

* If I'm wrong on this point, then I'm sure another Mod will correct me.

...

Reading the rest of the topic, they are carrying it a bit far (in my opinion). For that reason, I've gently asked them to stop.
