Q for mods re: Baghdad region

A few hours ago a number of nations in the Baghdad region were edited by The Emerald Heights of The SLAGLands.

I'm not disputing the decision (what's done is done), but I would like to know a bit more about why it was taken (so the region's players can avoid the caprice of this mod in the future).

The only information we have so far is that our nations were edited because The SLAGLands 'grew weary' of our jokes 'and decided to give us what for' (SLAGlands own words).

Please feel free to answer as many or as few as you see fit.

Firstly, I was told the national animal and currency violated the site's TOS - by which you mean the Terms and Conditions of Use? How? (You understand it is impossible to stick to the rules if you don't tell us what they are).

Secondly, it'd been like that for - um, about two years, maybe? Why was the decision to edit taken now? Was there any reason at all for the timing of the decision? Was it because of a complaint (which I would understand)?

Thirdly, 'satiric content and ... views and opinions exagerated for the purposes of parody' - is this now totally prohibited?

"Suicide bomber" and "suicide bomber baby" are nowhere near appropriate for a national animal. These are the sorts of images that cross the line of traditional satire and become too close to home for many people. On one hand, your "satire" may be viewed offensive to victims of suicide bombings; on the other, your flagrant stereotyping of Muslim beliefs is far too mean-spirited to the target of your "satire."

All of these ideas are summed up in this site's rules and Terms of Service, which you can read by clicking "About" on the leftmost frame of your nation's page. Note that "malicious" content is illegal. Since several of the nations of Baghdad crossed the line from satire into malice, I took action. The only reason no action had been taken earlier is because the mods failed to notice these things; we're observant, but we're certainly not omniscient.

Please demonstrate a bit more forethought in the future.

And I believe that a 'suidice bomber' or 'suicide bomber baby' would qualify as 'humans' which would be against the rules.

Thank you for replying - I accept your points.

We're a small region that takes its RP (tending towards satire) loosely from the real life actions of Islamic dictatorships. These dictatorships and their pawns have used children as suicide bombers.

In retrospect I can see that Nationstates is not the right place to satirise these crimes and I apologise to any victims of Islam/terrorism who might have been offended.

None of the moderated animals/currencies/mottoes were intended to be malicious, but I appreciate (and I'm sure the other nations will appreciate) being informed why our nations were edited.

This must be the first time someone accepted a moderator ruling and thanked them for it.

Yeah, no offense to Msr. Hamza, but I really was expecting some sort of reply about how we "changed your motto and you can't make fun of the dirty sand n*ggers" anymore. It's just what I'm used to seeing in reply. ;)

Thanks for the civility, everyone.
