UN Proposals

While looking through the UN Proposals today (something I do once a week), I noticed that the trend for proposals to revisit UN resolutions that have passed is increasing.

Last week we saw another UNEC like proposal. It was made in good faith, and the author is going to rewrite his / her proposal. I'm not worried about that one ...

But the "Legalize Prostitution" proposal is now *two* resolutions we've passed. The second prostitution resolution I feel was valid enough for the UN, as it did *more* than just legalize prostitution, but the current proposal to legalize prostitution should probably vanish.

Can we generate auto responses to authors saying that they are submitting proposals for resolutions that are already adopted? I'd like to let authors specifically know that they really should read the prior UN resolutions.

Another idea in today's queue: UN on the Moon. The UN Space Constortium IIRC visited this idea in Feb. or Mar. I'd have to read both the proposal and prior UN resolution.

Oh, there are at least two proposals to remove certain government times from the game and one to install Bush as the head of some UN agency. Those three proposals should probably be zapped as well.

The reason I'm bringing this here, is I'm planning on working more closely with new UN members who show an interest in proposal writing, and wondering if it is helpful to flag attention to these proposals or not? I can easily list the exact names of each of the proposals I think should disappear for one reason or another and begin citing from Enodia's list *why* I feel these proposals shouldn't just run their natural course.

Just looking for feedback.

Thanks,
-Michael

Don't know how one would code an automated system to get rid of repeat proposals... the current system is that GMs go through the proposal list, deleting inappropriate ones and issuing warnings to those who propose them. This incluldes proposals that have already been passed as resolutions.

If you go through the list regularly, report inappropriate proposals through the Getting Help Page, and a GM should look at them.

Well its pretty clear why its happening, while we now have a good, working, fast, forum, we are also exposed more to new players via Jolt. So we are picking up more "newbies". This I suspect is why the christian god gave us counter-strike to distract them with ... ;)

:mp5: " OMG I can make law ! "

See ?

* We need a new Enodia ... :(

Good point. I think you may be right, Jolt is certainly IMHO better than the old server. :)

*smiles wickedly*

You know...
We could make it a requirement that countries wishing to submit proposals for the first time must pass a test on previously passed resolutions. That way, if they cant show a decent knowledge of whats been done, or show the ability to FIND the information on what has been done, then they cant submit.

Plus, it would be nice to have a bolder and more apparent link to the previous resolutions, have them immediately classified in sub-headings for passed and defeated, and be searchable based on keyword terms.
