Thread Hijack/Flambaiting

Cold Hard Bitch is inciting some of us to flame, even though we've proven the statements made to be wrong, here's an example (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=6643809#post6643809):

Don't make a baseless thread again. LIAR!

There's more than just that as well if you take a look.

Thank-you kindly.

It looks to me like you both need to chill out. Teusday, you didn't exactly handle it with calm aplomb. I'm not sure I'd call it flamebaiting, but your posts in response to hers were definitely aggressive. Don't feed the flamebaiters.

Now, for God's sake can people please shut their damn mouths and think before making blanket statements about political ideaology? The mods are *not* liberal, *nor* conservative. The mods are the mods. Get over yourself, CHB. Just because you have a major political hardon doesn't mean everyone else does. Christ.

Tuesday, I really wouldn't worry yourself about it. CHB is one of the left's main assets on here. ;)

I handled the situation has anyone called a "liar" would, I don't take kindly to being called one in real and I certaintly won't tolerate being called one (the facts clearing support the truth in my favor) online.

So, instead of rolling your eyes and accepting the fact that CHB was blind, you get belligerent too? I see. I'm glad more people are behaving rationally on the General forum.

I wasn't "belligerent" - as you so describe me - whatsoever. I was pointing out that CHB didn't read the thread at all, hence my "Wrong" usage in my first response back.

I'd take it kindly if you didn't speculate on my behavior, I also began to question whether or not CHB was on the West Coast or East Coast of America, as that could've been why he/she was mistaken on the facts, but CHB never managed to respond... imagine that.

And, how often do I go "off the deep end" with things in general; only when my character is questioned, like I said, I do not tolerate it in RL, why on Earth would I tolerate it here?

Guess what? They're not. The individual mods have political views, of course, but the team as a whole does not tend to act upon political bias. Once more, just because you're incapable of seperating politics from the rest of reality doesn't mean that everyone is, too.

So, neither of the following statements seem at all aggressive or antagonizing to you?

"Don't hijack my thread without proof again.

Don't ever call me a liar, again, you'll regret it;"

What you neglect to mention about your "wrong" is that you put it in bold and the largest font size you could. Again, that strikes me as antagonistic.

Guess what? If...sorry... When a liberal mod comes across a thread where another liberal having an argument with a conservative they will always back the liberal. FACT. It has happend countless times in the past and will continue to happen in the future. That is NS life

No, they aren't agressive, they are steadfast in assertiveness and confidence to bolster the fact that I was correct and CHB was wrong.

CHB attempted to hijack my thread without evidence, therefore, I called on him/her to bring about evidence to support her spin on the situation; did he/she? No.

I didn't neglect to say I bolded and sized-14 my use of the word "wrong," I thought that would get the point across, and I was grossly mistaken.

The second statement is simply put, you tarnish my character on these forums without so much as a shed of evidence to support your slander, I will report you to the moderation staff; simple as that.

The HRA, if you want to discuss this, please, take it elsewhere... this thread isn't about the so-called right-wing conspiracy of the moderation staff.

Oooh, you're clever. Yes, I'm trying to be a mod.

Nope. I'm not. I'll never be a mod. The mods know it and I know it. It's really quite liberating, actually. No, I simply have a respect for the rules and for the authority of the mods. I'm sorry if respect seems like a foreign concept to you.

I never said that, please, don't misconstrue my words because you disagree with me. Most NS users do this during debate; it won't work with me.

CHB turned my thread - a debate that was going well - into a farce when he/she stormed into it, declared me a liar about the coverage, and refused to back down when asked to verify what coast he/she lived on.

This is a clear case of hijacking to me. If he/she wanted to confront me, he/she should've done that elsewhere, instead, he/she hijacked my thread continuing to call me a liar even though the posters - who already admitted that FNC had pre-empted O'Reilly - had backed me up.

It's ok, Raem, the mods will see what HRA is doing... he'll be dealt with, too.

/me sighs wearily and locks the topic while he types his post.

Another 20 posts in only 2 hours. This thread only had about 4 replies when I checked just before leaving for work this morning.

Raem is correct: Moderators do not act on political bias. Additionally, we Moderators do not all hold a single political viewpoint. Stephistan, Tactical Grace, and Myrth tend to be liberal. Menelmacar and The Most Glorious Hack tend to be conservative. I tend to be liberal with exceptions (such as "I am strongly against abortion"). I don't know the stance of the other Moderators. None of them allow their political viewpoint to bias their judgement.

Cold Hard Bitch: You are warned for trolling. Think before you post. National networks such as CBS, Fox, UPN, and others are composed of many different local affiliates. It's not unreasonable to believe that what's being shown in one part of the country is not what's being shown in another part of the country at any given moment in time. How do you know what someone else is seeing on their television screen across the country? Just because what they're saying doesn't match up with what you're seeing doesn't automatically make them liar. Unfounded accusations are not appreciated.

Tuesday Heights: Don't feed the trolls. How many times do I have to tell people this? Also remember that CHB probably didn't reply to your question about East Coast/West Coast because of real-life timing (id est, he/she may have gone to bed). Claims that someone is avoiding a topic are not at all credible if the period of absence is only a few hours. Also, as CHBs posts were relating to the topic-at-hand, it was "merely" trolling/flamebaiting and not a topic hijack.

Also Raem why dont you jus wear a sign on your head saying "mods look at me, im trying to act like a mod in the hope they will make me one"? pathetic

Yes. I'm not ready to bring The Heavy Hammer of Mod down on you, yet, but you'd be well-advised to exercise caution.

Most of your posts in here were constructive. You need to be careful, though, about what kinds of comments you make to other players or about other players.

Don't feed the flamebaiters.

This advice of yours is good. You should learn to follow it. ;)

...and I ask that you not interpret my tone-of-voice here as snide; there are times when I, myself, fail to follow my own advice.
