Foundership: The Proletariat Coalition

We have recently been asked to appoint a Founder for the region "The Proletariat Coalition". It has largely fallen to me to handle this case.

I have judged the situation to be exceptional as the region is very large (240 nations) and I am willing to appoint a Founder.

The original Founder "Haderan" created the region before the Founder feature was installed into the game mechanics (early 2003). The nation died of inactivity long ago, but was resurrected recently. "Haderan" has declined the Foundership.

"Blackbird" has requested Foundership of "The Proletariat Coalition". If you are a resident of the region in question, then please post your opinion for or against. If you are against, you are asked (but not required) to provide a reason why. You may, if you wish, submit your opinion and your reasons to me privately by telegram or by Getting Help request (category should be "Other: Response to Moderator"). Be aware, though, that my telegram box has limited capacity. You can also E-mail " cogitationthemod@yahoo.com ".

There needs to be overwhelming support for "Blackbird" as Founder before I will make the appointment. If there is a significant minority against this, then the appointment will not be made. "Significant minority" is a subjective judgement to be made by myself and the other Moderators. Also, silence is not support. If there are too many nations who remain silent on this, then I will not appoint a Founder. Even if there are few opinions against, I will not be strongly inclined to make the appointment if more than half the residents are silent. The more voices that speak up, the better.

When you post your opinion, you may, if you wish, also indicate acceptable alternative candidates for Founder that you would consider acceptable. If I see a trend (and if "Blackbird has too many opinions against him), then I will be willing to appoint someone other than "BlackBird".

If you are not a resident of "The Proletariat Coalition", then I don't want to see you post here. If you post ehre, anyway, then you had better have a very GOOD reason for posting here. Otherwise, I will consider your posts spam and deal with you accordingly.

I apologise for posting if this gets considered to be spam, but what happened to the policy on appointing founders being that you'll almost never appoint founders? Japan got itself a founder just the other week as well.

[Emphasis mine.]

"almost never" != "never"

(For those who aren't familiar with the C programming language, read that as "'Almost never' is not equal to 'never'.")

It's rare that we appoint Founders, but we do do it on rare occassion.

The fact that "Japan" got a Founder last week is just a fluke of probability.

Also, this topic is going to be open for at least a week or two before I make the appointment.

While I think that blackbird has done an absolutely exceptional job as delegate I do not support giving him or anyone else founder status. No matter how open and intelligent a founder may be I still find it a latent threat to democracy and the rule of law. No one not even one as great as bb should have that type of power over a free region. Just by a founder being there it hurts free elections because the delegate will always have someone with more power than them who isn't even elected.

Also there is the threat that a founder's security may be compromised such as in imperial Germany. If that kind of thing happens than the region would most definitely be dead. But most importantly there is no real need for a founder. It may give us a little more assurance against an invasion it's not worth it. The immense size of the region and our alliance agreements virtually rules out any real form of effective invasion. I mean come on? Who’s gonna attack us when we have 240 members and RLA and ADN membership? It would be a suicide mission.

Whilst I also agree that Blackbird has done an excellent job as delegate, I would not support Blackbird or any other nations receiving foundership of TPC.
As one of the longest residing members of TPC, I have seen the region cope perfectly well against threats with merely a well-endorsed delegate. This is a powerful statement about the stability of TPC and I'd like to keep it that way.
As such, I'd say we don't need a founder.

Okay, my information is a little out-of-date.

Blackbird has informed me that he has withdrawn his request for Foundership. Consequently, this discussion is now closed.
