I had to figure out how to be able to access the forums totally on my own which completely ruined my state of mind--I guess you can throw out the billions of messages and emails ive already sent, if you havent already or if u even bothered to read them at all? :\
(this isnt meant to be offensive Im just making the point that if someone cant access these forums then tech help for them is totally nonexistent)

emailing the admin is a total waste of time--by the time they get back to you your nation will be gone...and I never used IRC in my life, I dont even think its installed on my computer--I was able to figure out a very indirect way of getting here on my own. The bottomline is if you cant access the forums then tech help is for all intents and purposes basically nonexistent and if you cant figure out a way to do it on your own you might as well just leave the game--thats why I wanted my nation to be deated cause I wanted to start out fresh on my own and clear all the cookies that were blocken me

Or you could wait until we fix the problem that we are aware of because just about every nation is experiencing it.Im not criticizing the work that you do cause I know it must be laborious and your emails are many but communication skills of tech help needs to be vastly improved--somoene should update the NEWS folder when a glitch like this occurs in the future so that people that cant access the forums can remain updated. The way it exists at present if your locked out of the forums you feel like your totally cut off and know ones telling you anything--I understand itll take a thousand years for your email to be answerd thats all the more reason the NEWS folder needs to be kept very current during the middle of a bug infestation

We help when we can, but this is really an Adminstrator problem. There's not much Moderators can do about it.

Imagine how all the people less smart than you - the ones who didn't manage yet "to figure out how to access the forums totally on [their] own" must be feeling right now. It's a real tragedy. It really is.

But on a lighter note, I'm not surprised that you've never been in IRC. If you had, you'd have known how to do it in about 2 minutes. IRC is a real learning experience. I suggest you try it some time for all manner of reasons.

although, just a passing thought inspired by mkultra but is there a person who has the focus on communication, or is that max or sal who update teh news page...(not saying max and sal arent people)

Before you go on IRC, you better have some good anti-virus software installed. I nave norton 2004, and it wasn't able to get rid of a very annoying, IRC related, virus. From the moment this forum was down, and I went for help to IRC channels, I had to live with a virus warning all the time when I was online.

you dont need to get onto the forum with your nations to have them stay alive... just log in....

Well, that's your problem; the mods said the best way to reach them and to reach the admin was a specifically designed IRC room.

Tough luck if you don't want to go there to really solve a problem.

i'm having no problems accessign the forums ... when you do it correctly:

1) log in as your chosen nation

2) click the fourm link

3) remove all the URL except for http://forums2.jolt.co.uk

4) click "GO"

5) log in on the forum

6) go to the nationstates pages

The link has, aparently, been fixed.

I had to log onto the forums with my new password, not my original password, as I've only changed it twice since I strated in Nov. 2003. My original password was regarded as invalid by the forums after the move.

That's odd. Unless you changed it after the move to Jolt, because forum passwords on the old server never changed unless your nation was deleted and restored.

After the forums were activated, I had a hell of a time getting into them. If I followed the bridge from Nationstates.net, all I got was a blank page. If I tried to log in through Jolt itself, it refused to accept my password, even after password and email changes and verifications. You know what I did when I finally managed to get into the forums?

Bumped a couple old threads, instead of complaining about it, and complaining in the wrong forum, too. modMove > Technical?

I know they don't change on NS, but it took my new password to log into the Jolt forums, because the old one wouldn't work. I change it between 4-6 months ago.
