I like the new forums although being able to see who is currently online again would be good.

And the ability to edit your posts would be nice too, not just your last one.
Not to mention how the current forum titles suck to the extreme.

Changes are not so good eh.. I think if you give it a little time, you will get used to the new look.

Nevar we will suffer withdrawl.
I think the forum titles are jolt standard, so I don't think much can be done.

no search, lame-ass titles, only last post edit, style sucks balls... Long live progress
I like the fact that we have profiles, though, and that the forums dont keep crashing. I dont think it would be too difficult for the Nationstates forum to have its own titles and there is probably a way to allow the editing of previous posts. I think it all depends on how separate this forum is from the Jolt forums. It has to be quite separate because Jolt members cant post in these forums.

Er... so change the forum skin.
You can't change the skin. Right now NationStates overrides your other choice. So if I pick the Goldrush one, it's fine in other parts of Jolt, but when I come to the Nationstates forum I'm back to the white and gray.
Plus, most of the colors in the other skins are... horrible? Sorry to make a generalization, but gamers tend to go for the dark colors, or really strong ones.

I dunno. It could be worse. Editing only the last post is actually a good thing. It means that people finally have to proof-read and that they cannot manipulate the posts they have made in the past. As in: It forces you to consider carefully just WHAT you are saying as it can and will be used against you. That should generally tone the forums down or make it a total slugfest.
Either is massively hot. Like the core of the sun. So hot.
.. Hey, who cares for titles? Or post counts? "Why hello, my name is Captain Anarchy and I have so many posts that I must be really dedicated and smart." Or it means you could be a complete fool who posts too much and too often and just can't shut up about their favoured political system.
I mean, we already have our e-penis unit of currency, that being population count.
Also: If gamers really prefer green on black or red on black with animated gifs of blood dripping (god bless nesticle) then they had better get used to this. It's sleek and efficient. You can read all posts without straining your eyes, the contrasts are nice and from what I see we aren't all being totally mislead/cluttered with giant signatures praising the virutes of Vegeta or Cloud/Squall.
I am also so not getting paid to say this.

Try changing it in your profile maybe (currently it'll be set on "use forum default") rather than changing the thing at the bottom.

the forums dont keep crashing. They're down every other time I check back. :/
Editing only the last post is actually a good thing. You can edit posts that have been responded to. You can not edit after 15 minutes have passed since you posted. Either will cause a problem for people maintaining reference threads or storefronts.
It means that people finally have to proof-read and that they cannot manipulate the posts they have made in the past. You don't have to, and I've never seen that done anyway.

Nope, I've done that. It does give you a warning, saying certain forums can override your choices.
It looks like whomever made the choices for the NS forums chose the override button.
But honestly... I didn't really like any of the other ones either. The only acceptable one had a large picture of a girl at the top, not my picture of choice. ;)

I must say, so far, Jolt has yet to impress me, especially when it comes to the forums. I still have to wait until 2 am or random times throughout the day to get on, just like the old NS forums, and then, I still only get a few posts in before I get timed out.
Suffice it to say, I hope things will get better...

On the subject of searching threads:
I hope that the disabled search function is a temporary setback; I've found that searching through previous threads (often weeks out of rotation) has helped improve continuity in my role-playing. Without this feature, I lack the patience to wade through 35 pages of old and decaying threads to uncover that one kernel of role play storyline that I need to make my nation's history that much further in depth. Also, as many of my friends on this forum have come to realize to their horror, unless I physically telegram them the link for a current role play that they were involved in during the pre-Jolt forums, the chances of them continuing the role-play are infinitesimal at an absolute best.
-----
On the subject of personal titles:
Not much to say except (personal comment):
I personally hate 1337! There is nothing "elite" about this destruction of the English language, and I know that there are others who share this same grievance.
(Sorry, that's the English major for a mother coming to rear its head of infinite rage).
This sucks, the look's don't matter to me, but other thngs do
1. Last post edit only
2. No pics allowed to be posted (ruins storefronts like mine and cool war pics)
3. no search
4. can't see who's on
5. having problems getting here from www.nationstates.net. I have to go to jold and go to their forum page to get here.
6. This forum is slower than the old
7. I miss the old and want to go back, the crashing wasn't as bad as the lack of features here. Besides, this one is crashing more.
8. I will go psycho if you don't go back
9. I may buy a gun and go psycho

StoreFront should start his own homepage for this stuff. In my region we have shops for everything. What you do here, with editing posts and stuff, is old stuff. I like this forum the way it is. Editting posts in the middle of an conversation, to bring the other party in discredit, is common practice. Mods, please leave it as it is. There are other ways to open storefronts. They can see a nice example in my signature. If they bother to look around, that is.

Has anyone got the link to that 'international mall' Invision forum? Otherwise, at present, just post new storefront items as posts within the thread rather than trying to edit them into the first post.
I'd await a post from the forum admins on the SITREP regarding the various missing / inactive functions. Remember NS accounts for 28% of Jolt's entire post count and has only been added recently, teething problems are to be expected and will be fixed as soon as possible.
