99 out of 100 times the mods will notify you. If you request this in the "getting help" post, you get it back too.
You need to file a request at the Getting Help Page (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/-1/page=help) under the heading, "Other: Response to Moderator." I hope that helps!
