So, Why Do I Attract Such Hate Telegrams?

The Empire of CLU
Received: 10 minutes ago CONVINCED that you are a fruit booty.

DEEPLY DISTURBED that anyone could be such a strawberry.

CONDEMNING the sissy girly fairy capitaliztion of the first word of every line of a prosposal.

1. APPEALS that you write less like a frosted peach in the future.

2. URGES you to watch some pro wrestling, NFL football, and Japanese porn.

3. RECOMMENDS that you stop hanging out with guys named Clyde and Bruce and Tate.

4. SUPPORTS anyone that might come over to your house with a...

5. BIG BLACK BASEBALL BAT.

Seriously, though, I voted against your proposal simply for the structure. It's been a while since one came up that was both a good idea and not ambiguously worded, and then you went and used a flamingly gay format.

I thought I'd share this with you all, I wouldn't be particularly upset if the bolded part hadn't been in there, but lately, all I seem to do is get flamed and attacked by people on here who have no value of the first amendment right of free speech.

I don't normally report these anymore, but they have become so frequent, that some days I really do want to give up the game because of the level of immaturity on this site - today is one of those days.

[Emphasis mine.]

I can make it a point to check your telegram box on a frequent basis, if you'd like. I don't mind increasing my kill count.

That's pretty damn sad. You'd hope that people had better things to do than to go around flaming people, and spamming their telegram box.
Well, you have my sympathies, and I hope that they stop.

You're more than welcome to, somedays it's worse than others, and it's mainly over trying to recruit for my region, but unfortunately, this UN resolution I got to quorum has people coming out of the woodwork.

Well, you have my sympathies, and I hope that they stop.

Thank-you, I appreciate it.

Why would anyone want to be not nice to TH?

Why would anyone want to be not nice to TH?

I think it has to do with the fact that I can be somewhat of an elitist and uptight about particular things, like my UN proposal defense. Just go in and read some of the things I say to people, and I don't think they obviously like it, but it's just the way I am, y'know?

I don't have anything to do with the UN, so that's probably why I don't see it.

Sad some people fail to realise this is only a game. To vote against a proposal based on the way it is presented rather than its content and ramifications for your nation says a lot about the person who posted the telegram in the first place.

I thought the proposal was well presented personally.

Thanks; I guess next time I just won't follow Enodia's guides.

At the risk of sounding vengeful, just send them a civilly worded insulting TG back and then, block them from sending TG's to you. The blocking feature is soooooooooo fun. Gives one a chance to have the --er-- last word.

[Moderator Edit - Cogitation] The above described action is NOT recommended. Anyone behaving in this manner risks deletion.

"Civilly worded insulting telegrams" are still considered abusive telegrams and will be punished as such. [/modedit]

Yeah, me too. My resolution got the largest majoirty ever, but I was still getting over a dozen abusive telegrams a day. I'm definitely not sumbitting a proposal again.

I used to have an ignore list from here to Amsterdam, but I decided to ignore the ignore list. It is always a new puppet, though I wonder what the limit of such a list is

Somehow I don't think the moderation forum is the correct place to be encouraging players to send insulting telegrams to each other, civilly worded or no.

Because some of us enjoy other aspects of this game, such as getting a UN proposal to quorum and then campaigning vigorously for it to pass as a resolution.

Why am I getting so many hate telegrams?
Let me make this clear...
I am NOT stalking you.
I am NOT going from computer to computer creating new pupptes to harrass you.
I do however have a wall covered in photographs of you...
What? STOP LOOKING AT ME!
Just because I have gills doesnt mean Im a freak, OK?

That t-gram Tuesday Heights posted here is totally unacceptable. I don't understand the point of someone sending another player something like that. I have used the ignore function several times in the past and it seems to work well, but it does not guard against the fervent uncivl actions that boneheads will take.

Tuesday Heights, my only suggestion is to ignore this player and he/she will eventually realize the futility. I suggest that you keep playing as you see fit. If someone does not like a proposal that you have written, well they can do the civil thing and vote against it. If they decide to do something else, well I guess they haven't a clue what this game is all about.

This is nothing new. I had a UN resolution up for vote back in July 2003 - I must have gotten dozens of abusive telegrams (plus one actually sensible and intelligent opposition telegram from Cog). If anything, it was worse then because there was no block list and the maximum number of telegrams you could receive was 10.

Personally, I think there should be some special means of limiting telegrams if you have a UN resolution up for vote.

I don't mind the opposition, I encourage it really, I just don't understand why we can't have intelligent debate around here sometimes, y'know?
