Ejecting all of the natives to refound a region is not an acceptable method.

You forgot that part where everybody unanimously have to leave the region themselves. Nobody left, so it wasn't very unanimous at all.

Well, our region is not the most active, and it is impossible for us to attract new members to a founderless region. It was posted numerous times to check out the boards and to vote on the issue. It lasted for about a week, and in the end, all who voted voted to refound. In order not to tip off any spies who might have been within our region, we decided to eject first, and then TG with a welcome back to a newly refounded region. However, my nations were deleted before we could refound or i could send out the TGs. Since our region is not the most active, and has people who have not been active for days, it was impossible to get the word out to everyone, and get a response. We decided to do this quick and get it over before someone like Blue Moon decided to invade us again. I sent a message via the "getting help" page as suggested by Scolopendra, informing whoever reads those things of our plans.

I contacted The Federated Segments of Scolopendra to check if these actions were okay, and then i followed his instructions to the letter. When i informed him my nations were deleted, i got this response:

If Scolopendra gives me permission, i will post his original TG to me responding to our proposed plans. This is a rather nebulous comment, so i do not feel posting it has breached any trust, but the other one is more concrete and in response to a specific question.

Thouogh it is good to know there are people out there looking out for cheaters and those who would perform illegal actions, in this case, you have only scuttled our legitimate refounding effort. Now, our region is in the same abysmal shape it was before. Had you only TGed me, i would have been happy to fill you in.

If any mod should read this, i ask you appoint the nation "new new caithness" as our founder. This is a tribute to Ian Rex of new caithness, our original founder. This will also be a communal nation which shall be placed in the hands of whoever is elected our leader, to ensure we will never be left founderless again. I beg the mods to show some pity, as without a new founder, our week-long effort to enhance our security was thwarted for the wrong reasons. No grief was intended, as every nation was to be welcomed back with open arms after the refounding.

All ejected nations have now been TGed and welcomed back by the way.

I must add that Tennessee Sour Mash was moved into and out of the rejected realms for one reason: To clear thier boards of the massive movement from the CA so that no invader region could see it, and refound without us. Had i known that there was such a thing as spamming the regional happenings, i would never have done this.

The Capitalist Alliance was founded because the name was open and we wanted to secure it while available because we were still debating on whether to refound or to move. After the decision to refound was made, i kept the region open as a backup in case of failure. The Capitalist Alliance will not be recreated, at this point, though, because i am not sure if the refounding has totally failed. If the refounding actually works, we will stay in the region which has been our home. If not, discussions will begin anew.

if that's true, then i'd like to know what the hell is going on, since i've seen it several times, regions with loads of inactive natives who also wanted to recreate their regions to have a founder, who were told to not kick out everyone, or they'd get deleted, and now a mod said it was okay? what's up with that?

and also, if it was all okay, why spam the regional happenings in both the RR and your new region?

I explained above why the rr happenings were spammed, as well as why "The Capitalist Alliance" was created. As soon as we decided to refound, "The Capitalist Alliance" was not intended to be the "new" region. It was merely a backup. "Capitalist Alliance" (without "The") was always intended to be our region. And i have already apologized for "spamming" the regional happenings in the RR, as i did not know that action was considered spam.

As for my checking with the mods, if any other mods wish to see the TG from The Federated Segments of Scolopendra, please let me know via TG and i will send it to you. I will not however post it in these public forums without his permission... which i hope is given, so that i may clear my good name!

I've never tried anything like this before, and had no idea that there were rules to refounding. So i checked with a senior moderator, and assumed everything would be okay. And so far, except for the temporary deletion (and still not having a founder), everything is pretty much back to the way it was.

I cannot say this enough. Blue Moon tried to invade us about a week ago, so those active nations in our region decided to refound for security's sake. All actions taken in this refounding were to prevent invader groups from seizing our beloved region. Everyone was going to be invited to rejoin our refounded safer region, and though it is not really any safer now, all ejected nations have been TGed with a welcome back letter, an apology, and an explanation. The message that will be sent to the mods:

The region Capitalist Alliance has decided to refound. There was a full vote held on our forums for 1 week, so as to give everyone ample chance to have their vote. What we plan to do is to eject everyone right before the server update, and then refound immediately afterwards; all who were ejected will then be telegrammed with the explanation and an offer to return to the region... NO ONE SHALL BE BANNED AFTERWARDS. Since outsiders recently tried to invade, we feel that secrecy is of the utmost importance, and for that reason, we have decided to eject and then TG, instead of TG and then eject. I personally checked with Scolopendra, and was informed this was the best method to ensure no one gets deleted for this action. After all, it was voted on by all those wishing to participate. So please do not delete my nation, as everyone who is ejected will be welcomed back immediately.

So it is on. By checking another region, New Meritocracy, i see that: "20 hours ago: The Serene Republic of St Khidr became the Regional UN Delegate." Since it is now 1 AM EDT, that means that the update should be at or around 5 AM EDT. So, if anyone will be up around that time and wants to help keep an eye out so that i am not the only nation attempting this, please post so here. In fact, if you have AIM, please PM me with your name, so that we can coordinate this even better, so that we don't have 4 people trying to log into the same nation. We then need to TG everyone who was ejected, and let them know what's up.

To sum up, we will attempt our refounding around 5 AM EDT on Friday June 18. That is around 30 hours from now (1 AM EDT). We will use the second option: eject every nation and then TG them with what has happened and of course welcome them back.

If you want to move out on your own, you can... but i need enough UN people to stay so that i retain delegate powers to do all of the ejections.

Some noobs getting a brake, maybe?

Noobs? I've been on this site since July '03 (though my name no longer reflects that after that little trip to DEETville and then Lazarus). And while there are some whose founding predates mine, and who could technically call me a noob, i do not think you fit that group. And our region is one of the oldest in NS, founded around November '02, i believe. I've just never been involved in something like this before.

I think i (and the region i belong to) got a break because we took the time to check with the mods before acting. And though what occurred was a giant mistake, we acted in good faith on the information given us. And in thier infinite wisdom, the mods took that into account when deciding the outcome. Or i could be completely wrong. Suffice it to say that i, and the entire region are grateful to the mods for their decision. So if anyone trys telling you that you're biased towards liberals, send them on over to this thread (or tell them to TG me), and let them read the story of the mods assisting a capitalist region.

In that case you should have been deleted for ejecting everybody out as a delegate. I am all for, to give newbies a brake, but you should have been deleted, if you already play this game for a year. You should have known better. That is what they told me too, when I was deleted :x

But as i said, i checked first, and acted in a manner i was told was okay. It was a good faith effort. Now, however, it is clear to one and all who have read this thread, that the method was not the correct one. I've never even looked into refounding prior to this (and was therefore unaware that there were any rules to it) because it hasn't been an issue, and before i did, i covered my bases. I'm sorry to hear you got deleted, but there had to have been something different between the two cases. I wish you the best of luck with your nation and region.

a mod would of course need to clarify that. But here's what happened. Before attempting anything, I TGed scolo with the full plan including the intent to eject everyone (though it was explicitly stated they'd all be TGed with a welcome back letter and no one would be banned), and explaining that Blue Moon had recently tried to invade us, so secrecy was a necessity. He said if everything was indeed on the up and up and i sent the plan to the mods via the getting help page to give them all a heads up, then everything would be okay.

Since that time, though, it has become painfully clear that this was probably not the way to do it. And indeed, i had also TGed Repoloid Productions who responded (unfortunately not till after all this had happened) that i'd probably get nailed for griefing. Moral of the story appears to be that we got lucky, and not to try this at home. And i cannot say it enough, thank you to the mods for being understanding of the situation and our attempt to act within the rules and in good faith. I apologize again that it turned out our actions were inappropriate. Since i'd say this is a moot issue, this will be my last post on the matter, unless a mod has any questions... in which case, TG me, and i'll be happy to answer.
